Wednesday, January 17, 2001 In today's show, Henry unsuccessfully tries to stop Chris
and Holden from investigating him. Later, Katie calls on him for help in
keeping her husband. (That's right, Henry is involved in two separate
storylines in the same day!) Holden goes over to the Intruder to tell Chris that he
found out that Phillips is in jail. He's on his way to visit him and Chris
decides to go with. They are about to leave when Henry walks in.
"Well, if it isn't the dynamic duo. Where are you two off to in such
a hurry?" Chris says that they were just talking about a story that Holden
worked on at WOAK, and that they were about to leave to do some research. Henry
doesn't believe them and asks, "Why don't you tell me what you're really
working on, huh?" Holden says to Henry, "Hey, you're starting to
sweat." He turns to Chris and says, "Maybe he thinks we're
investigating him." Chris asks, "Why would he think that?"
Henry says, "Holden, I told you to stop looking into this ridiculous horse
business, OK? It's a waste of time." Holden tells Chris,
"OK, we should probably stop then." Chris responds, "Yeah,
he thinks it's a waste of time." Holden tells Henry, "OK, bye
bye." After they leave Henry looks worried and says, "Liars!
They're not going to stop digging, not until they ruin me." Holden and Chris go to visit Phillips in jail and ask him about Flashdance and Henry. Phillips says that he was supposed to ship the horse to Europe, but his contact (Isaac) was late. He says Henry is just some weasel he used to get the tape for him so that he could find out who bought the horse. They ask him why Henry is so scared, and he says, "I couldn't care less what makes that cockroach sweat." He leaves and Holden decides he has to figure out the connection between his horse and Mr. Lowe. Meanwhile, across town at the garage, Katie is feeling
worried and desperate. Lily has once again taken Simon away and left Katie
alone. She decides to call Henry to help her scheme. Henry agrees to come
over and walks into the garage saying, "Well, well, if it isn't the new
bride in her new... well, this ain't exactly 'House Beautiful' is it?"
Katie puts on her best smile and exclaims, "Henry, you came!"
Looking around at the place Katie now calls home, Henry says, "You're
really doing the blue collar thing, huh? Does the resourceful Mr. Frasier
clip grocery coupons as well? I had to see this to believe it!"
Katie is in no mood to be insulted and tells Henry, "You know, I was
thinking we could skip the whole insulting digs thing." "Oh
really? Really, why is that? The last time we talked was when?
Oh yes, I remember, it was my first day back in Oakdale. And what a
welcome it was. You called me an idiot. You said that anyone who would
hire me had to be brain dead. Lo and behold you've been avoiding me ever
since." Katie tells him that she's been meaning to call him and
compliments him on the wonderful job he's doing at the Intruder.
"Relax, relax, Peretti. You're laying it on thicker that corned beef
on rye." "Speaking of a sandwich," says Katie as she head
towards the kitchen for refreshments. Henry stops her, saying, "Ha,
ha, ha, ha. Skip the happy hostess routine. This is Henry, what do
you want?" Katie tries to tell him that she doesn't want anything,
she's just being sociable, but Henry doesn't buy it. "Must be
something big. Let's see, money? Could you be chafing at the
confines of your skid row life?" Katie finally admits that she wants
something, she wants to "pick his brain." "Well this is
momentous. Katie and I on the same team again. It's like the Beatles
getting back together again, man! Before we brainstorm on our next tune,
though, I need a teensy weensy little favor in return." Katie asks
what it is and Henry says, "Chris Hughes, your ex-bud. He's been
snooping around the windmills of my mind and I have a feeling that the next stop
will be you. So I would appreciate it if you would let me know when baby
Hughes comes a-callin'." Katie agrees and Henry says, "All
right. I've made a fresh start here in Oakdale. I don't want any
threads coming loose." Katie says fine, she'll help, and Henry asks
her what she needs. She says that she needs to turn her marriage of
convenience into a real marriage. She and Simon started out as friends, and she
thinks they could go further if only he were more committed to her.
"Oh, this is too rich. You mean this isn't just a performance for the INS?
Katie, what is it with you addicts, you trade in one addiction for another.
Last season it was Holden. He was the 'it guy' even though he's married to
Lily. And now it's Simon Frasier, and from what I understand he's crazy about
Lily too. Maybe she's the one you really want!" Katie is not
amused. All she needs is to have Simon's undivided attention. "I'm
not going to prison because he can't keep his hands off that slut. I need
Simon home!" Henry starts to think, saying, "Family values, huh?
How do we keep Simon out of Lily's clutches and into your own strangling arms,
hmm." In the next scene Henry is playing the guitar that Katie just gave to Simon, singing, "I got the INS blues in the muffler shop. I got the kangaroo blues..." Katie tells him to stop and Henry jokingly says, "Music is my life, man!" Katie again tells him to stop, saying this isn't a joke, she needs help to "neutralize Lily." "Well, I've already offered my idea." "Fixing Lily's brakes is not an option, OK? I need something legal this time." "Details. Hmm, OK, what's something more subtle than murder? How do we get hubby and his tool belt into the lazy-boy every night. OK I've got it!" Katie begs him to tell her what it is. He says it's not one of his best ideas but it might work, if she's up to it.
