Tuesday, January 20, 2004 On today's episode, Henry sees Simon, back from the dead! On yesterday's show Henry fainted after finding Simon at the cottage, back from the dead. Today he's lying passed out on the bed and Simon is trying to wake him up. He takes a drink of water and spits it on Henry's face. Henry wakes up and Simon clamps his hand over his mouth, saying, "Shh. Henry, just breathe. Breathe, Henry. Shh, shh, shh. Okay, look at me, look at me. I didn't die in the explosion. It's really me. I'm alive. I going to explain everything - I going to explain everything to you as soon as you calm down, okay? All right? Now, I'm gonna take my hand off your mouth and you're gonna sit there and you're going to be nice and quiet, just - just like Snickers. All right? Now, you gonna be quiet? Okay. One - two - good boy - three." He takes his hand of Henry's mouth and Henry screams!
Now Henry is breathing into a paper bag. "In with the good, out with the bad. That's it - breathe in with the good," coaches Simon. "Now if you scream again, I'm gonna hit you, Henry, and I don't want to do that, okay?" "Simon?" says Henry into the bag. "Yes, Henry?" says Simon as he takes the bag away. Henry looks at Simon for a moment, then hugs him and doesn't let go. "Ah, there we go. That's - that's sweet, Henry. That's - that's enough. Henry. Henry? Henry, that's enough. It's good to see you, too," says Simon as he pries Henry off him.
"You're alive!" says Henry in disbelief. "Katie - Katie and Mike were there - they - no, wait a second, they saw the warehouse explode - the cops have your DNA!" says Henry. Simon explains that he needed people to think he was dead. "You needed - do you have any idea what you've put her through, huh? She had to be hospitalized because of you," says Henry angrily as he grabs Simon and throws him down on the bed. "All right, I know. Okay, okay. Is she okay?" asks Simon. "Is she okay? What do you care if she's okay or not? Huh? Yeah, she's fine now that she's finally accepted you're finally gone. Simon, for months - for months!" says Henry. Simon explains that he had no choice, faking his death was the only way to keep her safe from Bartleby's brother. Henry points out that was months ago. Simon says it took him longer to get out of Australia than he thought, he had to get new papers and a new identity. "Oh, yeah, and a new beard? Or is this a fake one, hmm?" asks Henry, reaching out to touch it. "Listen, don't touch what you can't grow," taunts Simon. "Some of us don't have to," responds Henry. "Look, the point is, it took me longer to get out than I thought. Look, I had to come in by way of Canada. I got spotted in Toronto, and I hitched my way all the way to the States. I walked from Chicago. I am exhausted! But I would do it again. I would do absolutely anything just to get the chance to love her again," says a tortured Simon.
Simon says he tried to call Katie, but a man answered the phone so he hung up. He asks Henry if he knows who it was. "The man?" asks Henry innocently. "Yeah," says Simon. "Ah, that was me. I live here, I'm a man," says Henry. "Oh, you're a man now? Well, that's something else that's changed. It wasn't you, Henry," insists Simon. "Well, how do you know? Did you talk to me on the phone? No, you hung up," says Henry. "Yeah, just as well, you would've screamed in my ear. Anyway, what was I going to say? 'Hey, it's Simon back from the dead?' Katie would've reacted just the way you did," says Simon. Henry begins to say that he doesn't understand, but Simon assures him he'll explain everything as soon as he finds Katie. He asks her if he knows where she is. "Do I know where Katie is?" repeats Henry. "Yeah, it's not a difficult question, Henry. Unless there's something wrong," says Simon. "No, no. Everything's fine, everything's peachy. No, everything's good," Henry assures him. Simon doesn't buy it and demands to know what Henry isn't telling him.
"You know something, Henry," says Simon. "Huh, that's the first time you ever accused me of that," jokes Henry. "Out with it, Henry! Where is she?" demands Simon. "I don't know, I don't know! At work? At Margo's? The honeymoon suite at the Lakeview?" answers Henry. After a pause, Simon thinks he's kidding and apologizes for harassing him, agreeing that she's probably at work. Henry tells him that she's a nurse's aid at the hospital now. Simon asks how she's doing and Henry says she's better. "Is she happy?" asks Simon. "Yeah, I'd say so," answers Henry. "That's good. Anyway, I can't go to see her at the hospital, because, you know, I've got to keep a low profile. What am I going to do? Just turn up and spring this on her. I can't do that, can I?" asks Simon. He says he'll just wait there until she comes home. "That's a great idea. Good. And I'll just make myself scarce," he starts to leave but Simon stops him. "Or not. Listen, you know, don't you want some privacy here when she comes home from work? Two's company, three's a crowd?" he says. Simon tells Henry that no one can know he's alive. "I've got you covered," Henry assures him. "Because if anyone knows I'm here, my life is worthless. And Katie, she's not much safer than I am," says Simon. Henry agrees to keep his secret. "Good. Good man. It's so good to see you. I always knew I could count on you, Henry. Thank you," says Simon.
Quick edit to Henry pounding on the door of the Lakeview penthouse, despite the "Do Not Disturb" sign. "Katie, Katie, it's me, Henry - open up! Katie, it's important!"
Henry has found a maid to let him into Katie and Mike's room (the security at the Lakeview is not all it's cracked up to be!). He thanks her and runs into the room, looking around and calling for Katie. When he can't find her he says to the maid, "Please, tell me there's a heart-shaped bathtub." She opens the door to the bathroom and he runs in. "Katie, Katie! I see bubbles, but I don't see Katie or Mike. Um, where could they be?" he asks the maid. She suggests that maybe they went home.
