Thursday, January 22, 2004 Katie has seen Simon, alive, and Henry tries to help her deal with it in her own way. Through a series of comings and goings and near misses, Simon is alone in Katie and Mike's hotel room, while they are in the lobby about to leave because Katie feels suddenly "sick." In reality she wants to get away from Simon and think, and she doesn't want Mike to find out yet. Unfortunately Mike forgot his keys in the room so has to go back and get them. Katie has just realized what is about to happen when Henry walks into the lobby, saying he's been looking for her. "Henry. Mike and Simon are about to run into each other. You have to help me stop them!" begs Katie. "You lied to Simon to keep him away from Mike. And now Mike is on his way up to the room?" recaps Henry. Katie tells him they need to do something now. Henry goes up to the front desk and asks to make a call to Mike's room, it's an emergency. "I can only imagine," says the clerk who has observed Katie and her husband and boyfriend. After a few rings Simon answers the phone in the penthouse suite. "Simon, it's Henry." "Henry, where are you? Listen, mate, why didn't you tell me my wife was involved with someone else?" asks Simon. Henry tells Simon that Katie and Mike are in the lobby and they're about to leave. "She's what?! Listen, she swore she was coming right back to me!" says Simon angrily. "Well, I'm sorry to be the one to break this to you, pal, but I think she's giving you the slip," says Henry. Simon tells Henry not to let her go, he'll be right down. Katie asks Henry if it worked, and he asks her if she has cab fair. He hands her some money and says, "No, no, here. Get a cab, go home. I want you to lock the windows, lock the doors and turn out all the lights. Leave everything to me," says Henry reassuringly. "Are you sure you can handle this?" asks Katie. "This is me you're talking to, okay? Now, scram!" answers Henry. Katie blows him a kiss and leaves, and he catches it and puts it in his pocket. Simon comes rushing into the lobby asking for Katie. "Oh, man. I'm so sorry. I tried everything I could, but you're outta luck. They left. I guess you're not as fast as you used to be," says Henry. Meanwhile, up in the penthouse, Mike is searching for his keys. He finally finds them and is about to leave when there's a knock on the door - it's Henry. "Hey, Mike, hey! Hey, how are you? How's it going? Hey, you know what? I was just down in the lobby, and guess who I ran into? Katie!" says Henry cheerily. Mike says he's going to take her home. "No, don't worry about it. You know what? I already took care of her. She was turning like seven different shades of green, you know, so I put her in a cab and sent her on her way. But don't sweat. She said she'd call you later," explains Henry. "She just ran off?" asks Mike, worried. "No! She didn't 'run off.' She ran. But not because of you," says Henry. Mike points at a glass of bourbon and says, "Look at this. All right, unless Katie's got some secret hankering of bourbon, someone's definitely been in this room. I'm going to go downstairs to find out who was in here," says Mike, determined. "You caught me!" says Henry quickly. "I just came up here to look for Katie, and there was nobody here. And I thought, you know, 'what the hey?' You know - might as well just kick back, have a drink, and - I guess I kinda got carried away, and I apologize about that. I really do. But there's something about the lap of luxury that really sort of does it to me. And then I thought, when I came to my senses, I said, 'Wait a second. Why don't you just look in the lobby?' And then that's when I went downstairs and ran into Katie. Exactly how it happened. There's nothing like a good glass of bourbon," says Henry, taking a drink. "So - that's it. Don't worry about calling Katie. Like I said, she will call you - later. She'll call you later, okay? All right? You have a good night, man! Don't worry about it. It's all good," Henry rushes out and closes the door behind him. "Bourbon?" he says with disgust. Then he downs the glass and says, "Any port in a storm." Henry runs into Simon again in the lobby. Simon complains that Katie isn't answering her phone. "She just had the shock of a lifetime. Why don't you give her some time?" suggests Henry. "I don't have time, Henry. Listen, I've got to find Katie as soon as possible. I've got to make things right with her, and get the hell out of Oakdale with her. Please," begs Simon. "Well, maybe you should have warned her that you weren't as dead as you led us all to believe. You have no idea what you put her through. So don't pretend to know what it'll take for her to even begin to recover!" says Henry protectively. "Okay. Listen, you were here, right? Look, if anyone knows what it'll take to convince her to leave with me, it's you. Please, you've got to do this for me," begs Simon. "No, no, no. You told me - you told me that there are people who are still trying to kill you. Your life is in danger," says Henry. "Well, Katie and I have been through danger before. We thrive on it. We will survive. I'm not leaving town without her, Henry. Not this time. Not ever again," says Simon. Today’s episode was directed by Ellen Wheeler and written by Lynn Martin.
