Transcripts from TVMegasite Henry: It is curious how Meg can afford this place. Rich aunt? Emily: How about a rich benefactor named Paul Ryan? Henry: What? What are you saying, that he changed his will and left it all to Meg? That's a bit of a stretch. Emily: Yes, it is, which is why I think he's alive. And when I find out where Meg fits in, we'll deal with her accordingly. Henry: Wow, that makes me so nervous when you say that? Emily: Will you stop stalling, Henry, and go. Go! Henry: Morning! Maid: Can I help you? Henry: Yeah, this is Meg Snyder's room, isn't it? Maid: It is, but she's not here. Henry: Oh, really? Darn. How long ago did she leave? Maid: I couldn't say. The bed was made when I got here. Henry: Okay. Did you hear that? Emily: Yeah, I did. Henry: Why would Meg make her bed in a hotel room? Emily: Oh, my god, she didn't. Sounds to me like Meg never came back last night. Henry: Ooh.
Henry: That's a nice elbow to the stomach. Emily: Sorry. Henry: What now? Emily: Write a note. Henry: Write a note for Meg? Emily: Yes, for Meg. Henry: What do you want me to say, Emily? "I'm sorry we missed you. We just wanted to find out if you know that Emily shot Paul. Call me." Emily: No! Just write a note. Tell the maid you want to write a note so she lets you in the room, Henry. Henry: I can break in illegally? Why didn't I think of that? Emily: Do you have a better idea? Henry: Yes, I have a better idea. You go home, and I'll see if I can make that card game over on Florence Street if I hurry. Emily: No, no, no, you are not going anywhere. We are in this together, whether you like it or not. I've got your money, remember? Henry: How could I forget that? Emily: Yeah, you know I shot Paul. So we are bonded together, whether you like it or not, Henry, at least for now. So get your butt in there, and charm the maid into letting you into the room and then do what you do best. Henry, snoop. Go, snoop. Henry: Charm the maid. Charm the maid. [ Knocking ] Hey, it's me, again. I'm sorry to bother you. I need to leave a note for Meg. Do you mind if I pop on in there, write down some sweet nothings? Maid: You can leave a message for her down at the desk. Henry: I know that, I know, but it's so cold and impersonal, don't you think? Maid: Hotel rules, I'm sorry. Henry: You know what? I won't tell if you don't. Maid: I can't let you into her room, sir. Henry: I know, I know, but it's for me. And it's for Meg, too. It's something private, and it's personal, and if I give it to the desk clerk, and then he hands it to her, how unromantic is that? Maid: True. Henry: True. Wouldn't you like to come home and find a note from a secret admirer on your pillow? With a rose next to it? Maid: I'd be happy with just the rose. Or a secret admirer, for that matter. Henry: Then you know what I'm talking about here. I promise, I will only be a second. I won't be long. It'll just be our little secret. What do you say? Maid: Forget it. Henry: Losing my touch.
Emily: Meg is up to something, I have no doubt about it. Why else would she show up to Paul's memorial service? She hated the guy's guts. No, she was there to find something out. Henry: Like what? Emily: I don't know. Henry: Well, you may get a chance to find out sooner than you thought. [ Cell phone ringing ] Meg: Hi. Paul: Did you get it? Meg: Yes. Why are you calling me? Is something wrong? Paul: No, I just wanted to make sure everything was okay on your end. Meg: This is not a small box, Paul. What the hell is in here? Paul: You don't need to worry about that right now. You're on your way back, right? Meg: Yeah, I just have to go by my room and pick up the last of the meds, and then I'm on my way. Paul: Great. Don't let anybody see you. Meg: Damn. Too late. Paul: What, is it Emily? Meg: Hi, Henry, right? Paul: Get rid of him. Henry: Could you use a hand with that? Meg: No, thanks, I'm good. Paul: Look, Meg, forget about the medicine. Just walk away. Get out of there. Meg? Henry: It looks like it weighs a ton. Come on, let me give you a hand with that. Meg: No, no, no, really, I've got -- Paul: Meg? Are you there?
Paul: Meg? Answer me. What's going on? Meg: Thanks, I got it. Do you mind if I finish the call? Henry: Oh, please. Go right ahead. Meg: I can't talk to you right now. I'll call you later, okay. Sorry about that. Henry: That's quite all right. What do you got in there, anyway? You got letters of transit? Meg: Hardly. Henry: We ran into each other at Paul's funeral, but I don't think we've officially met. I'm Henry Coleman. Meg: Yes, yes, I know. I'm Meg -- Henry: Meg Snyder. I know, I've been looking for you all morning. Meg: Really? Why is that? Henry: I need a nurse. Meg: Try the hospital. Henry: No, not for me, I don't need it. My aunt needs a nurse. She need someone to look after her, and you come highly recommended. Meg: I'm sorry, but I lost my license to practice. Henry: I'm so sorry to hear that. Really, is that true? I talked to the maid at your hotel room. She said you'd been out all night, so I figured you just pulled a long one at the hospital. Meg: You went to my room? Henry: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was looking for you. So I guess if you weren't at the hospital, you must've been out having some fun. Lucky girl. Meg: I've got to go, Mr. Coleman. Henry: Yeah, you know, call me Henry. Because all my good friends do. Meg: Okay. Goodbye, Henry. Henry: I like to party myself. Speaking of that. I've seen the sun come up a few times. You want to grab a drink sometime? Meg: Sure. Call me. You know where I live. Henry: I sure do. Meg: See ya. Henry: See ya. I got her to agree to have a drink with me. Emily: Oh, congratulations. Where she's going? Henry: Oh, not now. Some other time. Emily: Forget about some other time, Henry. Where is she going right now? Henry: I didn't ask. I don't want to be nosy. I'm trying to gain her confidence, you know. Emily: Did you ever actually make a living as a private eye? Because you're lousy at it, Henry! Let's go. We've got to follow Meg. Come on.
Meg: Yes, I told you, I got it. No, that's crazy, why do you want to meet there? Hold on. All right, fine, I don't want to argue with you. Java it is. Give me ten minutes. I'll be there. Henry: I wonder who she's meeting. Emily: I have a sinking feeling I already know.
Henry: You can't really believe that she's here to meet Paul, can you? Emily: Why is that so hard to believe? Henry: Because he's dead. You shot him. Remember? Emily: We have been over this a thousand times. It is very possible he survived the gunshot. Henry: Maybe, maybe, and then fall off a 100-foot cliff or river, and then, of course, he had to take his bare hands and pull the bullet out, and then he had to sneak into a pharmacy and -- Emily: Or he got an ex-nurse to help him. Henry: Meg cannot be that crazy. Emily: Look, I know it's a big stretch, I get that. I'm telling you, I swear to god, I know that was Paul's voice I heard last night at the church. I know it. And Meg certainly did her best to give us the slip when we were trying to investigate her. So? Henry: Yeah, she did, I admit that. Fine. Okay, let's just pretend he's alive. Let's pretend. Why would he show up to such a public place as java? Emily: That's what we're going to find out. Come on. Meg: I'll be there as soon as I can. Paul: Just make sure that Emily and Henry don't follow you. Meg: Are you okay? How do you feel? Paul: A little weak, but I'm surviving. Meg: I think we're almost out of this. Paul: One way or another. Hurry up, all right? Meg: Okay. Thank you. Excuse me, is there a back door exit? Waitress: Yeah, but it's not for customers, sorry. Meg: Thanks, anyway. Henry: She's drinking a tall latte, I suspect there's foam. Emily: Focus, focus. Is she with anybody, Henry? Henry: No, no dead man walking, Emily. Emily: Maybe I was wrong. But then who is she meeting? Henry: I don't know. I want to know what's in the box. Wait, she's getting up. I think she's coming over here. Hide, hide, hide. It's a false alarm. She's not coming. Emily: What the hell is she up to? Henry: It's almost as if -- Emily: That she knows we're here. Henry: Yeah, yeah. Emily: Oh, my god, go see if her car's in the back. Go look, go look. Henry! Henry! Henry: No car. No car. Emily: She's gone, too. She gave us the slip! Henry: Oh, man, what a shame. Gosh. Well, I can still make that game. Emily: You are not going anywhere. We're not finished. There's still one thing left we can do. Come on.
Henry: Hi, I'm here to take over. They need you on eight. Maid: Okay. You the new girl? Henry: That's right. Maid: You all right? You sound sick or something. Henry: Honey, it's these allergies. They're just killing me. Maid: I hear you. Well, have a good one. Henry: All right, thanks, bye. Psst! Come on. We're in. What? Emily: Don't. Just get in the room, Henry. Henry: Don't touch the goods there, Emily.
