Wednesday, February 14, 2001 It's Valentine's Day in Oakdale but there's no love in
Henry's world, only threats and danger coming at him from all sides! Emily is at the Intruder office and finds a Valentine from
Chris. Henry walks in and she quickly hides it. Henry asks what's
she's doing here, she was supposed to be in a meeting about their advertisers.
Emily says he needs to keep better track of her, that meeting has been
cancelled. "Oh, well I suggest you get on the horn and rustle up another
one. As a matter of fact, why don't you make it two, that way you can show
Craig that you know how to bring in the butter. I'll put in a good word
for you." Emily correctly supposes, "You know, if I didn't know
you better, I'd say you were trying to get rod of me. What's up with
that?" Meanwhile, outside the office door, Mei-Lin arrives with a gun. In his suite at the Lakeview, Craig is talking on the phone
to someone who tells him that Mei-Lin is not in Singapore as she told him, but
in the States. Threatened and desperate, he calls Emily to find out where
his money is hidden. Back at the Intruder, Emily tells Henry, "Really, when
you think about it, you've been so ill at ease, since just the other day, when I
mentioned something about ... a horse." Just then the phone rings,
it's Craig. He asks her to have brunch at the Lakeview with him so they
can discuss the business she mentioned the other day. Emily says,
"I'd love to Craig, see you in a few." At the name Craig Henry's
ears perk up and he asks her what he wanted. "You mean you don't
know? Oh, Henry, you are so out of the loop!" Henry stammers,
"Listen, ah... you, ah, you're not going to tell him about the horse, are
you?" Emily simply says, "Ta ta, Henry. Oh, I'm sorry.
Like you like to say, Ciao!" After Emily leaves Mei-Lin comes into the office saying,
"Hello, Coleman." "What are you doing here?" asks
Henry. "Is that any way to speak to your new boss?" responds Mei-Lin.
Henry protests that he's not cut out for this job. Mei-Lin doesn't buy it,
and tells him to drive the horse trailer out to the Snyder farm now.
Terrified, Henry tries to talk her out of it, "I told you, I told you last
week, that Emily Snyder is onto us. She is with Craig as we speak.
She's going to tell him everything, OK? Here's what I need to do. I
need to think, I need to stay here, I need to go through Emily's things, I need
to see what kind of hard proof she has on us." Mei-Lin doesn't seem
too worried about Emily, "None of this matters. In a short while,
'Dr. Wong' will be the proud new owner of a champion thoroughbred."
The Snyder farm is a short drive from the airport, where she has chartered a
private plane. By the time Craig realizes that the horse is his, it will
be long gone. "What about me? What am I supposed to do?
Where am I supposed to go? Hong Kong? Thailand? I'm not cut
out for the gypsy life, OK?" At that, Mei-Lin pulls out her gun and
points it at Henry. He holds up his hands and says, "Woah! Woah!"
Mei-Lin tells him he should have thought of that before, now get going!
Henry tentatively asks, "You wouldn't use that, would you?" Mei-Lin
responds, "Coleman I assure you, if word of our little adventure gets out
somehow I will kill you, without thinking twice. Let's go."
Henry says OK and backs up towards the door with his hands in the air. Out at the farm, Joe is guarding Flashdance when Mei-Lin
comes in, posing as Dr. Wong from the animal welfare league. She tells him
that she has already talked to Mr. Snyder about taking the horse into protective
custody on orders from the OPD. Joe refuses to do anything until he talks
to Holden. Mei-Lin is getting upset when Rose barges in. She grabs Rose
and holds the gun to her. Henry has been hiding behind the door,
listening, and at the first sign of danger he leaves and returns to the Intruder
office. Back at the Lakeview, Craig tells Emily that his family is
being threatened. She tells him all about Flashdance and Henry's part in
it. Henry is searching through Emily's desk at the Intruder
when Craig comes in. "Craig! Hey, I was just looking for these
budget reports, Emily is such a slob." "Really," asks Craig
doubtfully. "Yeah. You know, while I was at it, I was going to
see if I could find an answer to your question." "My
question?" Henry reminds him that he had asked him to find out how
Emily knew where his money was hidden. Craig doesn't seem to care about
that any more, saying, "That's a dead issue, now, Henry." Henry
worriedly asks, "Oh really, why's that?" Craig responds,
"Because it's not Emily who's in my business, Henry, it's you."
Henry protests, "Craig, I am just trying to do my job here."
Craig asks him, "Does the name Flashdance mean anything to you?"
"Ah, well, other than a sadly unrequited crush on Jennifer Beals..."
Craig is not amused, saying, "It's a horse, Henry, a horse."
"A horse? What horse? There's a horse with that name? Now
that's odd." Craig explains that it's his horse, that Winston Lowe
bought it with his money. Emily told him everything, but the one thing he
can't figure out is who Henry is working for. Attempting to play dumb, Henry
says, "I don't know what you're talking about." Craig finally
loses his temper, slaps Henry, and grabs him by the collar yelling, "Who
set me up? Who's pulling your strings?" Henry folds quickly and tells
him that it's Mei-Lin. Craig seems shocked, "Mei-Lin? Mei-Lin?"
Henry tries to explain, saying, "She figured out that Winston Lowe was
using your money to secretly buy the stolen horse. When Winston's middle man
didn't make his connection it ended up with Holden Snyder. She's been
trying to keep you in the dark ever since." Craig asks, "And what is
your part in this?" "My part? Craig, I have a cameo, I'm a
walk-on in this, OK? Some guy Phillips asked me to steal some WOAK
videotape that accidentally caught the sale of the horse on tape. I had no
idea it was yours. I didn't find out about it until Mei-Lin started to
blackmail me. She said she would tell you that I was in on the whole thing
from the beginning. I'm just as much of a victim here as you are."
Craig asks where Mei-Lin is now. Henry doesn't want to tell him, saying,
"Craig, listen, please, she said she'd kill me if I told anybody."
"And what am I going to do if you don't, Henry? What am I going to do
if you don't?" Henry tells him that she went to the Snyder farm to
steal the horse, and probably did so already. Craig leaves, saying,
"Don't take any vacations Henry, I'll find you later." Meanwhile, out at the farm, Holden walks into the stables in the middle of the stand-off and Rose breaks away from Mei-Lin. Joe goes after Mei-Lin and is shot. Holden grabs Mei-Lin and holds her until the police arrive. Craig shows up soon after and sees the police dragging Mei-Lin away. He knows that she has betrayed him, with Henry's help.
