Finding Katie again bothering the poor helpless Pilar, Mike yells at her.  Fortunately Henry is there to defend her, sort of.

Katie has just snapped a picture of Mike and Pilar coming out of her room at the Wagon Wheel Motel, where Henry has followed her friend the mystery man.  Mike asks her what she's doing, and Katie says she didn't know it was him.  "It wasn't.  I mean, when did you get here?" asks Henry, confused.  Mike says he has the same question for them.  Katie says they were on assignment and Henry agrees.  Mike asks for what, and accuses them of following him.  Katie denies it, and Pilar says they must have been following her.  She worries that now "he" can find her too.  Mike assures her that it's all right, he would never let anything happen to her.  Katie barges into the room, saying, "All right, I know you're in here.  You might as well just show your face."  When no one appears she says, "All right, you asked for it."  She looks in the bathroom, in the shower, under the bed, and behind the curtains, but doesn't find anyone.  "All right, where is he?" she demands to know.  "Where's who?" asks clueless Mike.  "The guy that she is in cahoots with.  The guy that was here before you showed up.  What did you do?  Throw him out the window the minute Mike got here?" Katie accuses Pilar, who insist she was alone until Mike found her.  "Don't lie to me.  I know for a fact that the same guy I saw you with in town was here," says Katie.  Mike tells her to stop, he can't stand to see her make a fool out of herself.

"I mean, haven't you done enough damage?  Do you have to keep making it worse?" says Mike.  "Mike, I'm not going to stand here and let you treat Katie with disrespect," says Henry.  "Fine.  Get out," snaps Mike.  "No, stay right where you are.  Don't let him talk to you like that.  Look, I don't blame you for being surprised that Henry and I are here.  But, as soon as he found out that Pilar was registered at this motel..." Katie tries to explain.  "Stop - I still don't know what you think Pilar's done to me," says Mike.  "Try playing you for a sucker since the minute she hit town," says Katie.  Mike asks her what Pilar is going to do to hurt him.  "Well, she's the only one who can answer that question.  But let me tell you something - she is setting you up for something, Mike.  Why can't you see that?" asks Katie.  "You want me to see things through your eyes?  Well, I don't.  What I see is this woman who used to have so much to offer turning into this obsessive compulsive, inconsiderate little girl," accuses Mike.  Henry steps between them and says, "I'm sorry, Mike, but no one insults Katie in my presence."  "I swear, Henry, if you say one more word to me, I will bury you," threatens Mike.  "Then again, I think he needs to get this off his chest," says Henry as he steps back.  "All right.  What about the guy I saw her in town with when she was supposed to be sick as a dog in bed?  Did she explain to you why she snuck out of your house to go meet him?" asks Katie.  Mike says she did and Pilar asks her if she's surprised.  "Only if it was the truth," says Katie.  Mike tells her the man is an ex-boyfriend of Pilar's who threatened to kill her, and he's just trying to protect her.  Pilar mildly protests that he shouldn't have told Katie that.  "Look, I had to.  All right?  Maybe now Katie will have the sense to leave you alone.  Look, I want your word, and yours, that you're not going to tell anybody where she's staying," says Mike.  "How can you ask me to do that, Mike?  It's playing right into her hands," says Katie.  Mike tells her someone's life could be in danger if she doesn't.  Katie and Henry reluctantly promise not to tell anyone where Pilar is.  Mike tells them to get out and as they're leaving Pilar whines, "I don't care what they say, Michael.  I still don't trust them."  "What a coincidence.  I feel the exact same way about you," snaps Katie.  "You know, Katie - she's not a very good loser," says Henry as they leave Mike and Pilar alone.

Back at Al's, Katie wonders how this could have happened.  Henry has a theory, "I know for a fact that I saw the guy from the sketch go into Pilar's room.  So, he must've left when I went to get the phone from the manager."  "And then Mike shows up in a matter of minutes?" asks Katie.  Henry asks her if she can think of another explanation, and she says she can't.  "All right, that was a tough break, but at least we know that Pilar's a phony," says Henry.  "Yeah, well, that was the easy part.  The hard part is gonna be convincing Mike," observes Katie.  Henry asks Katie if she's willing to tell Mike everything they know about Pilar.  "No, 'cause he's gonna be so mad that I went investigating with all that stuff, especially after he and Margo told me to stay out of it," mopes Katie.  "Yeah, but now we have results.  And when we show him the results, Pilar will be gone," says Henry.  "No, it's too late, Henry.  He's all into protecting her.  Needy women are Mike's weakness," says Katie.  "Alas, many of us have the same affliction," observes the afflicted Henry.  "And Pilar must've known that, which is why she knew her plan would work!  She didn't count on me, and I'm not giving up," says Katie.  "Whether Mike wants you to or not, right?" laughs Henry.  Katie insists Mike will thank them later, they just need to find a way to prove that Pilar's lying to him.

Katie leans across the table and kisses Henry on the forehead, telling him he's brilliant.  "Well, well, I wouldn't say brilliant.  Although I did well on all the standardized tests.  Why do you bring it up?" says Henry modestly.  "Well, I was thinking about what you said about Mike, and I figured out the perfect way to expose Pilar for the phony she is," says Katie.  "Oh, we've said so much about old Mike in the last few days.  Can you remind me?" asks Henry.  Katie says that instead of telling Mike all the details like Henry suggested, they should tell Margo.  "I mean, she's gonna be a little bit more open to all the holes in Pilar's story."  Henry asks what those holes are.  "Okay, one - why would you go meet a guy if he had threatened to kill you?  Hole two - if she was so worried about protecting Mike, why would she go back to his house, therefore exposing him to more danger?" asks Katie.  "Um - her toothbrush.  Or her favorite pair of pj's," suggests Henry.  "Hole number three - if she was so worried about someone tracking her down, why would she register at a motel under her real name?" asks Katie.  Henry tells her that's a good one, it's very incriminating.  "Thanks, I thought so, too.  Now, I just have to hope and pray that Margo does not hang up on me," says Katie as she dials the phone.

Katie has left several messages for Margo when she gives up and decides to wait until morning.  "All right, what do you say to drinks at the Lakeview?  I'm breaking in a new bartender," suggests Henry.  He gets up and starts to leave when Tom arrives and asks if he can sit.  Katie asks him what's up, and he says it was Margo's idea.  Katie asks if she's on her way and Tom says no, but she asked him to handle something for her.  "You sound majorly legal, Tom.  What's going on?" asks Katie worriedly.  "A complaint was filed against you this evening by Pilar Domingo and Mike Kasnoff.  Margo decided if you're not going to take care of yourself, she'll do it for you," says Tom, handing her an official looking paper.  Katie asks what it is and Tom replies, "That is a restraining order.  Consider yourself served."

Today’s episode was directed by Chris Goutman and written by Craig Heller.

Transcripts from TVMegasite

Mike: What are you doing?

Katie: Mike, I -- I didn't know it was you.

Henry: It wasn't. I mean, when did you get here?

Mike: Well, I have the same question for you, Henry. And you, too.

Katie: We were -- on assignment.

Henry: Right. That's -- we were on assignment.

Mike: For what?

Henry: For -- what?

Mike: You followed me here, didn't you?

Katie: No. Honest.

Pilar: If you didn't follow him, then they must've followed me.

Mike: Is that true?

Pilar: Oh, my god! This means he can find me, too.

Mike: No. It's all right, it's all right, it's all right. I won't let anything happen to you.

Katie: All right, I know you're in here. You might as well just show your face. All right, you asked for it. Aha! Aha! Okay. All right, where is he?

Mike: Where's who?

Katie: The guy that she is in cahoots with. The guy that was here before you showed up. What did you do? Throw him out the window the minute Mike got here?

Pilar: You're crazy. I was alone until Mike found me.

Katie: Don't lie to me. I know for a fact that the same guy I saw you with in town was --

Mike: Stop, stop, stop, stop! I can't stand seeing you like this.

Katie: Like what?

Mike: You're making a fool of yourself.

Mike: I mean, haven't you done enough damage? Do you have to keep making it worse?

Henry: Mike, I'm not going to stand here and let you treat Katie with disrespect.

Mike: Fine. Get out.

Katie: No, stay right where you are. Don't let him talk to you like that. Look, I don't blame you for being surprised that Henry and I are here. But, as soon as he found out that Pilar was registered at this motel --

Mike: Stop -- I still don't know what you think Pilar's done to me.

Katie: Try playing you for a sucker since the minute she hit town.

Mike: Okay, you're so sure she's gonna hurt me. You tell me what you think she's gonna do.

Katie: Well, she's the only one who can answer that question. But let me tell you something -- she is setting you up for something, Mike. Why can't you see that?

Mike: You want me to see things through your eyes? Well, I don't. What I see is this woman who used to have so much to offer turning into this obsessive compulsive, inconsiderate little girl.

Henry: I'm sorry, Mike, but no one insults Katie in my presence.

Mike: I swear, Henry, if you say one more word to me, I will bury you.

Henry: Then again, I think he needs to get this off his chest.

Katie: All right. What about the guy I saw her in town with when she was supposed to be sick as a dog in bed? Did she explain to you why she snuck out of your house to go meet him?

Mike: Yes.

Katie: She did?

Pilar: Surprised?

Katie: Only if it was the truth.

Mike: Look, the guy's an ex-boyfriend of Pilar's --

Pilar: Mike, no!

Mike: He's an ex-boyfriend of Pilar's who's threatened to kill her. I'm trying to make sure that doesn't happen, but you keep getting in my way.

Pilar: I wish you hadn't said that.

Mike: Look, I had to. All right? Maybe now Katie will have the sense to leave you alone. Look, I want your word and yours you're not going to tell anybody where she's staying.

Katie: How can you ask me to do that, Mike? It's playing right into her hands.

Mike: If you don't, someone's life could be in danger. Is that what you want?

Katie: No. All right, fine, I won't tell anyone where Pilar's staying.

Henry: All right, me, too. Scout's honor.

Mike: Good. Get out.

Pilar: I don't care what they say, Michael. I still don't trust them.

Katie: What a coincidence. I feel the exact same way about you.

Henry: You know, Katie -- she's not a very good loser.

Pilar: No matter what I do, this just keeps getting worse. I promised myself I wouldn't get you involved in this, Michael, and that's exactly what I've done. If anything happens to you, I'll never forgive myself.

Katie: How could this have happened, Henry? You saw Pilar's new boyfriend go into that motel room, and then Mike comes out?

Henry: All right, I think I have an explanation.

Katie: I hope so.

Henry: I know for a fact that I saw the guy from the sketch go into Pilar's room. So, he must've left when I went to get the phone from the manager.

Katie: And then Mike shows up in a matter of minutes?

Henry: I don't know. Can you think of anything else?

Katie: No, that must've been it.

Henry: All right, that was a tough break, but at least we know that Pilar's a phony.

Katie: Yeah, well, that was the easy part. The hard part is gonna be convincing Mike.

Henry: Now, listen, are you willing to tell Mike everything I told you, hmm? About the sketch, the phone call, all the details?

Katie: No, 'cause he's gonna be so mad that I went investigating with all that stuff, especially after he and Margo told me to stay out of it.

Henry: Yeah, but now we have results. And when we show him the results, Pilar will be gone.

Katie: No, it's too late, Henry. He's all into protecting her. Needy women are Mike's weakness.

Henry: Alas, many of us have the same affliction.

Katie: And Pilar must've known that, which is why she knew her plan would work! She didn't count on me, and I'm not giving up.

Henry: Whether Mike wants you to or not, right?

Katie: He'll thank us later. [ Henry laughs weakly ] Now we just have to find out the perfect way to prove to Mike that Pilar's been lying to him this whole time.

Henry: And we do that -- how?

[ Katie sighs ]

Katie: I'm working on it.

Katie: Henry, you are brilliant.

Henry: Well, well, I wouldn't say brilliant. Although I did well on all the standardized tests. Why do you bring it up?

Katie: Well, I was thinking about what you said about Mike, and I figured out the perfect way to expose Pilar for the phony she is.

Henry: Oh, we've said so much about old Mike in the last few days. Can you remind me?

Katie: Okay. Remember when you said that we should tell him about the sketch, you saw the guy here and followed him to her motel?

Henry: Yeah, you said that would fall on deaf ears.

Katie: Yeah, right, if we tell Mike. But what about telling Margo instead? I mean, she's gonna be a little bit more open to all the holes in Pilar's story.

Henry: Okay, what holes are those?

Katie: Okay, one -- why would you go meet a guy if he had threatened to kill you? Hole two -- if she was so worried about protecting Mike, why would she go back to his house, therefore exposing him to more danger?

Henry: Um -- her toothbrush. Or her favorite pair of pj's.

Katie: Hole number three -- if she was so worried about someone tracking her down, why would she register at a motel under her real name?

Henry: Ah, ooh! That's a good point. And it's very incriminating.

Katie: Thanks, I thought so, too. Now, I just have to hope and pray that Margo does not hang up on me.

Katie: Margo's still not answering. I think we're gonna have to wait till Tomorrow morning.

Henry: All right, what do you say to drinks at the Lakeview? I'm breaking in a new bartender.

Tom: Henry, Katie -- you guys mind if I sit down?

Katie: Hey, Tom, what's going on?

Tom: Actually it was Margo's idea. She said you'd left a couple of messages on her voicemail.

Katie: Oh, good. Is she on her way?

Tom: Well, she's not, but she asked me to handle something on her behalf.

Katie: You sound majorly legal, Tom. What's going on?

Tom: A complaint was filed against you this evening by Pilar Domingo and Mike Kasnoff. Margo decided if you're not going to take care of yourself, she'll do it for you.

Katie: What is this?

Tom: That is a restraining order. [ Katie gasps ] Consider yourself served.
