Katie is working at the hospital, daydreaming about evil Pilar torturing Mike.  Her cell phone rings; it's Henry.  "How's work?" he asks cheerfully from Metro.  "Oh, it's just terrific.  I can't concentrate.  I'm not getting anything done.  All I keep thinking about is getting slapped with that restraining order," she says.  Henry asks her when she's done and she says soon.  He tells her to meet him at Metro.  "Oh, Henry! I 'm sorry, but a martini's not gonna do it this time," says Katie.  "You insult me.  Of course, if you don't want to hear my good news..." Henry tempts her.  Katie says it better be good, and Henry asks if he's ever let her down before.  "How high can you count?" she says unfairly.  "I'll be right there."

Katie walks into Metro and she and Henry sit down at a table.  Katie demands to know what the good news is.  "All right.  Now, we can't go within 500 feet of Pilar without being arrested.  However, the restraining order makes no mention of the following.  This guy," says Henry, pulling out the artist's sketch of Pilar's friend.  Henry reports that he staked out the hotel and the man showed up, staying in the same room as Pilar.  "Oh, you're such an evil genius!  I love it.  What else?" asks Katie delightedly.  "Well, anyway, I found his car in the parking lot.  I took down the license number, and I called in a favor from a friend in Michigan," says Henry.  "The man's name is Russell Terry.  An he has quite the list of crimes from California.  Fraud, running con games."  "Oh, so our innocent and demure Pilar Domingo is renting out motel rooms to convicted criminals?" says Katie.  "Ain't that a kick in the head?" laughs Henry.  "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" asks Katie.  "I don't know.  What are you thinking?" answers Henry.  "That Pilar picked up some little tricks from her friend the con man, and they have their sights set on Mike.  I knew that stupid story about the threatening ex-boyfriend was a bunch of bull.  Come on," says Katie, getting up.  Henry asks where they're going, and Katie answers, "We're going to go find Russell Terry and tell him the game's over."

Katie stops Dusty and asks him for their check because they're in a hurry.  He goes to get it and Henry pulls Katie back to the table.  "Hey, come here.  We can't confront a con man," he says.  Katie asks why not and Henry says, "Because - because what if it's true?  What if he's threatening Pilar?  And the he comes after us?"  Katie dismisses him, saying they'll deal with that later.  "No, no, no.  We'll deal with it now, before we have the barrel of an uzi stuck in our back.  What's the matter with you?  We don't know who this man is.  We don't know what he wants.  We don't know what kind of weapons he has," says Henry as he pays the check.  Katie agrees that they'll have to be careful, and asks him if he still has his lock-picking tools.  Henry protests and Katie says, "Oh, come on, don't wimp out on me now.  I need you.  Meet me in the parking lot of the Wagon Wheel in 20 minutes."  "And just one more thing, okay, and I'm not wimping out here," says Henry.  "I want you to think about this for a second.  Let's say this guy is running a con game.  Mike's - what, a thousandaire?  It's not exactly Donald Trump.  Will he and Pilar be going through all trouble just to bilk him out of his vast fortune?" asks Henry reasonably.  "Well maybe she wants something other than money.  Something she can only get from Mike," theorizes Katie.

Henry is working on picking the lock of Russ's room at the Wagon Wheel while Katie paces impatiently holding a bat.  She asks him if she's finished yet and he says accuracy takes time.  "Well, you better hurry it up.  I don't want to have to use this bat," she threatens.  "It wouldn't do much good against an uzi," says Henry pessimistically.  "I'm talking about you.  What's taking so long?" she asks.  "Katie, Katie, you cannot rush a job like picking a lock.  All right?  You have to take into consideration countless variations.  The weather, humidity, the type of the wood, the type of the hotel, the type of lock, okay?  On top of which I'm secretly hoping that you'll change your mind," explains Henry.  "Oh, are you kidding me?  The secret to who Pilar is and what she wants is on the other side of this door, you think I'm going to back out now?  Just open the door, Henry," says Katie.  Convinced she won't back down, Henry takes a credit card out of his wallet and easily opens the door.  "You knew what you were doing that whole time, didn't you?" Katie accuses him.  "I just hope that you know what you're doing," says Henry as he opens the door and lets her in.

Henry is holding the bat and keeping watch at the door while Katie searches the room.  He asks her if he found anything incriminating and she answers, "Just that this place should be reported to the department of health.  Oh, man, all we've found is a bunch of fast food boxes, and yesterday's paper, gum wrappers.  Wait!"  "What?  What, what?  Did you find something?" asks Henry.  "A phone directory," says Katie.  "You know, there's a phone book and bible at every hotel room," says Henry, unimpressed.  Katie explains that the book is open to the page that tells how to make international calls.  "Well, maybe Russ has got grandmother off on another continent.  Do you know?  He and Pilar maybe met in Spain," says Henry.  "I don't care where they met.  What if they're - wait a minute, what if they're part of some international crime syndicate?" she says.  "What if the wind blew it open to that page?  What if - what are you doing?" asks Henry as Katie rips the page out of the phone book.  "I'm gathering evidence.  And I don't want to get caught.  So will you please make yourself useful and go outside and make sure Russ isn't on his way back to his hotel room," orders Katie.  "Fine, I'll go check the parking lot.  Get done as fast as possible.  I want you done as soon as I get back.  And, Katie, I know how hard this is for you, but, please don't do anything reckless or insane?  Hmm?" says Henry.  "Reckless or insane?  You should talk," responds Katie.

After Henry leaves the room the phone rings.  Katie answers it, disguising her voice.  It was Pilar but she had already hung up.  Katie finds a notebook and hears someone at the door.  "Hey, Henry, tell me what you think of this," she says.  But it's not Henry at the door, it's Russ, and he wants to know what she's doing in his room!

Today’s episode was directed by Michael Eilbaum and written by Lynn Martin.

Henry: What? What, what? Did you find something?

Katie: A phone directory.

Henry: You know, there's a phone book and bible at every hotel room --

Katie: Yes, but this phone book is open to the page that tells you how to make international phone calls.

[ Phone rings ]

Katie: Hello? Hello?

Pilar: It's me. I tried calling your room, but there was no answer. Where are you? I need to see you right away. It's about that troublemaking little blonde. Since he can't get her off his mind, we'll have to take her out of the picture.

Katie: Hey, Henry, tell me what you think of this.

Russ: Want to tell me what the hell you're doing in my room?
