Tuesday, May 3, 2005 Henry delivers a tray of drinks to Katie at Metro. "What is all of that?" she asks. "Well, you said surprise you, so, surprise! Let's see, I've got an appletini, Long Island iced tea, a shot of old something or other," says Henry. "Are you trying to get me drunk?" asks Katie suspiciously. "Now, would I do a thing like that?" smiles Henry. "What's with all the drinks? Oh, I know what this is about. You're trying to get all the dirty details out of me about Craig leaving Oakdale," guesses Katie. "Now, come on, I don't need to ply you with drinks to get you to talk. Could always go on for a little pillow talking with you. But I hate mixing business with pleasure. So why don't you tell me, where is Craig now?" asks Henry. "Nope," says Katie. "Is he coming back?" asks Henry. "I don't know," fibs Katie. "Has he given up going after Jen and custody of Jennifer's..." tries Henry. "I told you, I can't tell you that," says Katie. "But I'm -- I'm your husband. We're supposed to share things," says Henry, trying to guilt her into spilling. It works. "All right, I'll tell you everything that I know, but you can't breathe a word of it to anyone," says Katie. "Hey -- look, I'm not the one who can't keep a secret," jokes Henry. Katie is not amused. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. That was so stupid of me. I did not mean that the way it sounded," apologizes Henry. "I was just hoping we could spend the rest of our lives not talking about how I'm responsible for Craig finding out that he is the father of Jen's child," says Katie. "Done. Done. Forget I ever said it. Can you?" asks Henry. "I'm dying to. All I want now is for Jen and Mike to live happily ever after, just like us," says Katie. "You know, the thing is, though, that secrets have a nasty way of coming out," observes Henry. "What are you saying?" asks Katie. "I'm just saying that if the truth is going to come out, wouldn't it be better if it came out from you?" suggests Henry. "Oh, so you're saying just come out and tell Mike that I'm responsible for ruining his life and Jennifer's, too?" asks Katie. "I'm just saying that this has gone on long enough. Now's the time," says Henry. "How am I going to tell Mike that I gave Craig the ammunition to make his life a living hell? He'll kill me," says Katie. "And if he finds out from someone else..." says Henry. "He won't. Only three people know. You, and you're not going to say anything. Me, and I won't say a word. And Craig, who's been permanently silenced," says Katie confidently. "Craig is dead?" whispers Henry. "Of course not," responds Katie. "Then he hasn't been permanently silenced, sweetheart. He'll find a way to drop a note or send up a smoke signal," predicts Henry. "So, what? I'm supposed to be worried for the rest of my life that my brother's going to resurface and tell my dirty little secrets?" asks Katie. "No, that's my point. You shouldn't have to worry. Come on, just come out with the truth. You know, if you do it now Mike might even respect you for it," encourages Henry. "Yeah, if he doesn't hate me forever," sulks Katie. "Oh, he's not a hateful kind of guy," says Henry. "All right, hate's a strong word, but he's not going to forgive me," insists Katie. "Well, you're never going to know unless you try and tell him the truth. Come on, give it a go. I think this is now the right time to do it," says Henry. "Will you come with me?" asks Katie. "You don't want me tagging along," says Henry. "Henry, you're my husband. We're married. We share things. Please?" begs Katie. Henry gives in and they head out to give Mike the bad news. Henry and Katie show up at Mike's door and he invites them in. He tells them that Jen had to go take care of a few things. "So, you're probably wondering why we're here," says Katie. "I think I already know. You're here to try to talk me and Jennifer into working things out so we can get back together again," guesses Mike. "I got some news for you," he continues, "Jennifer asked me to marry her." "She what? She proposed? What did you say?" asks Katie. "I said yes!" grins Mike. "That's incredible," says Katie. "Congratulations! Couldn't happen to a better guy," says Henry enthusiastically. "Yeah, I'm glad things are working out," says Katie a little less enthusiastically. "So am I. I love her and the baby so much, I would've died if I lost her," says Mike. "This is great," smiles Katie. "Happiest day of my life so far. I've still got the wedding and the birth of a baby to go," says Mike. "Your baby?" questions Katie. "Yeah, my baby," says Mike. "Congratulations, Mike. I'm so happy for you. Well, Henry, we should probably get going," says Katie, heading towards the door. Henry is about to follow when he finds a picture of Katie. "This is -- this is interesting. Is there something you want to share, Mike?" he asks. "I was ordering a bottle of sparking cider for Jen and I to celebrate, and I pulled the credit card out of my wallet. It must have popped out," explains Mike. "Well, that's -- well, that's funny how that happened, huh?" says Henry. "Better be glad I found this than the bride-to-be, huh?" laughs Mike. "Yeah. It's -- it's a nice picture," says Henry. Mike tells him to keep it. "Okay. I'll add it to my collection," says Henry. "We should probably get going. I'm sure Mike has a lot to do. Be sure and give Jennifer our love, okay?" says Katie. "Yeah, I will. And, you know what? Thank you, guys, for always being in our corner. You two are the best friends Jennifer and I could have," gushes Mike. "It's just so good to see you so happy," says Katie, feeling guilty. "What's not to be happy about, you know? I'm getting married. I'm gonna be a father. Does life get any better than that?" smiles Mike. "It can't. You two drink a toast for us, okay?" says Henry. They say their good-byes and leave the cottage. Henry stops Katie outside and asks, "What is the matter with you? I thought you were gonna tell him the truth?" "I couldn't. I just couldn't, okay?" says Katie, running off with Henry following her. Back at Metro, Katie says, "I have never seen Mike so happy." Henry pulls out a chair for her and she sits down, continuing, "He's marrying the woman he loves. They have a brand new baby on the way." "Yeah. You know, the longer you keep this a secret, the bigger it's gonna get," observes Henry. "Yeah, well, you know what I was thinking is, I need to stop living in the past, and start living in the present. I have a life with you, Henry," says Katie, "So I need to just stop getting all tangled up in Mike and Jennifer's business." "You're right," agrees Henry, "And you should have thought of that before you went through Jennifer's medical records at Dr. Schiller's office. And then you told Craig that she was five weeks along, when she was really ten weeks along." "I know. I know what I did, Henry. And I know how wrong it was. But two wrongs don't make a right, and telling Mike now would just ruin his happiness. And how wrong is that? So I've made a decision. I've made up my mind. I'm -- I'm gonna let sleeping dogs lie," says Katie. Henry laughs. Today’s episode was directed by Jennifer Pepperman and written by Lynn Martin.
