In today’s show, Katie calls Henry for help (again!).
She tells him her plan to find the diamond Simon lost, and he can’t
believe she’s stooped this low.
Katie and Simon are in their room at Craig’s suite.
After a familiar scene of Katie telling Simon she loves him and Simon
insisting he could never love her, he leaves.
Katie calls her only friend Henry, and asks him to come over.
There’s a knock on the back door of the suite and Katie
lets Henry in. “Oh, took you long enough to get here,” complains Katie.
“Well, it's good to see you, too, Peretti.”
Henry looks around the room, impressed.
“Well, hello. I -- I
wanted to talk to you about this letter of recommendation from Craig.”
“You said it was perfect,” protests Katie. “Yeah, and then I re-read it.
Since when
does Craig spell ‘recommend’ with two Cs?
Hmm?” asks Henry, suspiciously. Looking
at the letter, Katie makes up an excuse, saying Craig’s not a secretary and no
one will even notice. She informs
him they have much more important things to talk about.
“Oh, goodie, another opportunity to motivate the Australian.
I can't wait,” says Henry dryly. Katie
tells him that when she was eavesdropping on Simon and Lily, she realized that
it’s over between them. “Again?”
asks Henry. “Forever, this
time,” says Katie delightedly. “See,
that love would've never happened if Simon didn't come to town looking for a
diamond he thought Lily had. Get
it?” “No,” says Henry
bluntly. “Simon saw Lily as a way
of getting rich,” explains Katie. “He
fell in love with her as an afterthought, and he can do the same thing with
me.” Impatiently, Henry explains,
“Katie, Katie, we've been over this. You
don't have any money.” He sits on
the bed and bounces on it, testing it out.
Katie says she knows, but Simon wants a diamond.
“You don't have any diamonds,” observes Henry. “I know, but I have – “
“Not even a cubic zirconia,” adds Henry. “I know, but if – “
“ I mean, that probably
isn't even a real gold wedding band,” interrupts Henry again.
Frustrated, Katie puts her hand over Henry’s mouth.
“Would you listen to me? If
I had a diamond, then Simon would pay attention.
He would follow me to the ends of the earth to get it.
And then he would fall in love with me in the meantime.” Henry pretends to bite (or kiss?) Katie’s hand and she
pulls it away, disgusted. “Like
that'll ever happen,” says Henry. “Simon
said I was beautiful today,” glows Katie.
“And brilliant! He's this
close to falling in love with me. All
I need is a few shiny, hefty carats to seal the deal.”
“I see where this is going. Katie,
I'm many things, but I am not, nor have I ever been, a cat burglar.”
“Oh, please, that is not what I'm talking about,” says Katie
impatiently. “I look horrible in
all black,” adds Henry. “Henry,
I'm not talking about stealing someone else's diamond. I want us to find the one
that Simon lost.”
Stretching out on the bed, Henry asks, “All
right -- um -- how big exactly is this rock?”
“It's huge. And I know
exactly where Simon was when he misplaced it, so all we have to do is just go
there, grab some scuba equipment and – “
Henry interrupts, “Wait, whoa, whoa -- whoa, drop anchor there, little
miss mermaid. Scuba equipment?” “Henry,
if you keep worrying about what you're gonna wear when we do this, I'm gonna
call someone else,” threatens Katie (as if she has any other friends to
call!). Henry gets up off the bed
and asks again, “Scuba equipment? Explain.
Going once. Twice.”
“Okay, okay -- um, the diamond -- sort of fell into the ocean,”
explains Katie. “The ocean,”
repeats Henry in disbelief. “But
I'm gonna get Simon to tell me where it is and then we'll go find it,”
explains Katie. “In the ocean,”
says Henry. “It's a heavy
diamond. It probably sank right to
the bottom. It'll be easy to
find,” reassures Katie. “At the
bottom -- of the ocean,” says Henry, still shocked at
what Katie is proposing. He turns and heads for the door.
“Where are you going?” asks Katie, chasing after him.
“To change my phone number,” says Henry.
Katie pleads, “Henry, you have to help me with this.
You don't wanna give up the most important opportunity of a lifetime.”
“Katie, grow up. And when
you do, fall in love with someone who will love you back,” says Henry, looking
like he’s genuinely concerned. Good
advice, and it shows he really does care about her!
