Thursday, May 9, 2002 Although Henry was on the screen very briefly today and only had one line, there were three storylines on today's show that involved him. Katie's sudden drop in the elevator, Joe D'Angelo's return to town with a black eye, and a mysterious catburgler at Rose's house. Katie is stuck in the elevator at the Lakeview and hears a sawing sound above her. She cries out for help and a maintenance man drops down into the car. She tells him they have to get out or they're both going to die, and he tries unsuccessfully to calm her down. The elevator does drop, but it's only a few floors to the lobby and they both are OK. Nancy and Lucinda are there when the elevator doors open, and they think this is just part of Katie's plan to fake her own death. An EMT checks out Katie and determines she's OK, just scared. Katie runs into Simon in the lobby and asks him why he's here. He replies that he just picked up a few things from their room, and she sees a wrench in his bag. Katie acts scared and asks him why he's not giving her her space, and why he harassed Henry in the hallway. Simon says he was just trying to protect her, he wants her to be at the Lakeview so she will feel safe. Katie tells him she doesn't feel safe, that the elevator incident was no accident. Simon suggests that they talk to Margo and get a 24 hour guard for Katie. He offers to drive her to the station and she refuses. Simon protests that he had nothing to do with this. Katie replies that she never said he did, she's just edgy and messed up right now. She runs out of the lobby to go back to her room. In the second Henry-related storyline, Rose's dad Joe returns to Oakdale to a welcome back celebration at the Snyder farm. When he takes off his sunglasses Rose questions him about his black eye. He tells them that one night he returned home late to find an intruder in his home. The man was tall, broad-shouldered, and barrel-chested, and hit him before running out. The place was a mess, but nothing was missing. How is this related to Henry, you ask? Stay tuned....
Finally, we actually did see Henry in a few short scenes. After Rose and Paul leave Rose's place to go to the farm, Henry sneaks in the back way. He's all dressed in black like a catburgler, including a mask. He tiptoes around the room and begins to open drawers, dumping the contents on the floor, rifling through them. This continues for a while and Henry begins to get frustrated. It's obvious he's not finding what he's looking for. He trips over something and falls to the floor. He rips off his mask in anger and says, "I hate this! I really hate this!" What is he looking for? What does he have to do with the break-in at Rose's dad's place in New Jersey? And what does he know about the elevator? Keep watching to find out....
