Friday, May 9, 2003 Henry shows up as a shadow and a burglar today, and also plays the part of Goldilocks! Carly walks into Jack's house with a Monte Carlo employee carrying bags of groceries. She's planning to surprise Jack with dinner. The employee leaves and Carly goes into the kitchen to prepare the food as a shadow appears in the stairwell. Who else could it be but Henry, although we have yet to see his face. Carly is setting the table when she hears a noise from upstairs. Now we see that the shadow is a man dressed in black holding what appears to be a baseball bat. She thinks it's Jack and calls out "Jack? Jack, you can put down the nine millimeter. It's just me. Jack?" The figure retreats up the stairs as Carly's cell phone rings. She's surprised to hear that it's Jack on the phone and tells him about the noise she heard. He asks her to come down to the station, just to be safe. As she's leaving she calls upstairs, "All right, whoever's up there - my husband is very big and very strong and very angry. And he carries a gun. And he's coming home. I'm losing my mind." After she leaves the masked figure in black comes downstairs and starts hungrily eating the food she left on the table. After a touching discussion about their relationship at the station, Carly and Jack return home. "Okay, Goldilocks. Mama Bear and Papa Bear are home," calls Jack as he enters. Carly notices that the food has been eaten and worriedly tells Jack there's somebody here. Jack tells her to go outside and call 911. Pulling out his gun and carefully looking around, he calls out, "Whoever's in here, I'm a cop with a loaded 45. So come out slowly." Unmasked but still dressed in black, Henry comes out of the kitchen holding a chunk of some kind of meat. "I thought Carly said you had a nine millimeter," he says. "What the hell are you doing here? You were supposed to get out of town!" says Jack. "Look, I ran out of funds. I had nowhere else to go. So I guess I'm just gonna have to stay here until this whole legal bugaboo with Barbara Ryan sorts itself out," explains Henry. Carly comes back in and asks if everything's all right. "Define 'all right,'" says Jack. "Mama Bear. Good to see you," says Henry. "What are you doing here, Henry? The cops are on their way," warns Carly. Eating his meat, Henry says, "Oh, Jack will call them off. Won't you, pal? Hmm? By the way, the French food is just fabulous, Carly. It really is. But I thought that pregnant women were supposed to avoid the soft cheeses." Today’s episode was directed by Ellen Wheeler and written by Heather Allyn.

I'm just surprised to hear your voice. I thought you were here. Jack: Where's here? Carly: Milltown. I used the spare key to bring you dinner. I hope that's okay. Jack: No, that's great. Actually, I was calling to see if you wanted to meet me at al's, but it sounds like you're way ahead of me. Carly: So then you're not mad? Jack: Not at all. Tell me something -- why'd you think I was there? Carly: Well -- it's probably nothing. I -- I heard a thump. Jack: What kind of thump? Carly: I don't know. A thumpy thump. It's probably just a loose shutter or something. Jack: Probably. Hey, listen. Do me a favor. Come down to the station and wait for me here. I'd feel better. Carly: Really? Jack: Yeah. Hey, you never know. Carly: Okay, I'll see you there. All right, whoever's up there -- my husband is very big and very strong and very angry. And he carries a gun. And he's coming home.
