Henry and Vienna are still upset about how Katie and Brad reacted to hearing the truth about the pregnancy.  Vienna decides to talk to Katie because she's worried about her.  She convinces Katie that things can go back to the way they were, that she and Brad can still raise the baby.  But when Katie finally decides that's something she wants to do, when she and Brad tell Henry and Vienna, Henry says they can't do that.  So once again Katie has her hopes raised and crushed.  But Henry and Vienna are getting more and more excited to be parents.

Today’s episode was directed by Sonia Blangiardo and written by David A. Levinson.

Vienna: Do you think Brad and Katie will ever forgive us?

Henry: I hope to god they do, in time.

Vienna: But what if they don't?

Henry: They're our best friends, Vienna. They're not gonna stay mad at us forever.

Vienna: Yeah, but we broke their trust. We took away something so precious.

Henry: We didn't intend to do that, okay? T -- that wasn't planned. They have to realize that eventually.

Vienna: Yes, but every time they'll see that baby, they're gonna -- they're gonna remember that it was supposed to be theirs.

[ Both sigh ]

Henry: Can't think like that, because it's not theirs. It never was theirs. It's ours.

Vienna: So you really want to -- you really want to keep him, becoming parents?

Henry: Well, I'll admit to you the idea still scares the hell out of me, but, uh -- but I -- I think I'm ready. And there's no one I'd rather be a parent with than you. How about you? Are you ready?

[ Henry laughs ]

Vienna: This is all I ever wanted. I can only think of one thing that would make this more perfect.

Henry: Which is?

Vienna: Some new maternity clothes to model for you.

Henry: Ooh. I'm getting a flashback to a very fashionable dressing room. If you find the credit card in my pocket, the store is all yours. [ Both laughing ] It's almost there. Oh! Wow.

Vienna: Ah.

Henry: Hey! There's my gorgeously round strudel. [ Henry laughs ] Where are your shopping bags?

Vienna: I didn't go shopping.

Henry: Oh, no. Where'd you go?

Vienna: I went to see Katie.

Henry: Why? Why did you do that?

Vienna: I had to. I -- I was on my way to fashions, and I ran into Brad. And I asked him how she was doing, and he told me that she was completely devastated.

[ Vienna sighs ]

Henry: Yeah. Here. Come here. Ay, ay, ay.

[ Vienna sighs ]

Vienna: You should have seen her. It was awful when she opened the door.

Henry: Yeesh. I'm actually glad I didn't see her. You're a lot braver than I am.

Vienna: She's in so much pain.

Henry: She told you that?

Vienna: No, she didn't. She was trying to be so brave. And then -- when the baby moved and --

Henry: What, what, what, what? Whoa, whoa. Back up here. The baby moved?

Vienna: Yeah. The baby moved, and I -- I could see that she was dying. She was dying to see what it felt like. So I took her hand, and I placed it on my stomach.

Henry: Vienna, no. No, you didn't. No. No, no, no, no.

Vienna: No, I -- I wanted to. I wanted her to feel better.

[ Henry sighs ]

Henry: Did it? Did it make her feel better?

Vienna: No. I don't know. I think that we just need to give her a little bit of space.

Vienna: No, no. I don't think that's what she wants.

Henry: Sweetie, I don't want to see her suffer any more than you do. And I -- I would do anything -- anything to stop that. I would.

Vienna: Do you really mean that?

Henry: You know I do.

Vienna: So you would reconsider giving them the baby?

Henry: Giving them the baby?

Vienna: Yes.

Henry: Our baby?

Vienna: Yes.

Henry: No. Absolutely not.

Vienna: You didn't see how upset she was, Henry.

Henry: I know. I hate that. But the answer is still no.

Vienna: But you won't even consider it? She wants this baby so badly.

Henry: She wants a baby.

Vienna: No, no. She wants this. When she put her hand on the stomach, she said she still had the same feeling that this was her child.

Henry: I know, and she's probably gonna feel like that for a long time. But now that we know what we know, we cannot turn back the clock. It's not her child anymore. It's ours.

Vienna: I know, I know! But we could give this child to her, and then we could get pregnant again.

Henry: Sweetie, we could have 10 babies. It would not be Sven.

Vienna: You want 10 babies?

Henry: Oh, god, no. I just -- I want this child, okay?

Vienna: But so does she!

Henry: What about what she said the other day?

Vienna: It doesn't count.

Henry: No, it does count. She was -- she was right. It's a small town. We're gonna run into each other all the time. We're gonna know that's our child. All right? And in the off, off, off, off chance that we have more children, why deny them the possibility of knowing their own brother and sister?

Vienna: They could be cousins. They could still grow up together.

Henry: No. I'm sorry. I am not giving away our baby.

Vienna: No, I -- I don't want to rest. I just want you -- please, just listen to me.

Henry: I -- I have been listening to you. You're guilty and heartsick about what happened to Brad and Katie.

Vienna: And responsible.

Henry: You're not responsible, okay? And we're not gonna resolve this by giving them our child.

Vienna: Yeah, we promised.

Henry: We promised when it was Brad's kid! Things have changed!

Vienna: No, they don't have to.

Henry: Sweetie, lo -- even if -- even if Katie has second thoughts, there's no way Brad will. He's not gonna raise another man's child, especially not mine.

Vienna: Why? What's wrong with yours?

Henry: Absolutely nothing!

[ Vienna sighs ]

Vienna: Listen, this -- this is what Katie really wants.

Henry: What about you? What do you want?

Vienna: It's not important what I want.

Henry: You know what I want?

Vienna: What do you want?

Henry: I want to see you kiss our little boy when he skins his knee or wipe our daughter's tears away when she falls off her bike. That's -- that's what I want.

[ Vienna chuckles ]

[ Henry chuckles ]

Vienna: I love you so much.

Henry: I love you more. I love you more.

[ Henry chuckles ]

[ Knock on door ]

Katie: Hi.

Brad: Hi.

Vienna: Hi. What are you doing here?

Katie: I'm sorry. I couldn't wait for you to call. Go on. Tell them.

Brad: I must really love my wife. Uh, this isn't easy, but obviously, I would do anything to make Katie happy. So the answer is -- yes. Yes.

Henry: Yes to what?

Brad: To Vienna's offer. To raise the baby after all. We want to do it.

Katie: Isn't it wonderful? Now things can go back to the way they were.

Henry: Katie, honey --

Katie: We should have just stuck with our plan all along.

Vienna: Katie, I -- I said I was gonna think about it.

Katie: What's there to think about? This was our agreement all along. You were gonna have our baby. That's why you're pregnant now -- so we could have a child.

Brad: You changed your minds.

Katie: No, they didn't change their minds. Right?

Vienna: Katie --

Katie: No. No, you wouldn't do that.

Vienna: If it was only up to me, then --

Katie: Oh, my god!

Vienna: It's not. It's not just up to me. It's also Henry and -- and Brad. He's had reservations.

Katie: No, but he's come around, right? Haven't you? Henry, please. Oh, please. You know how much this baby means to me.

Henry: I do, sweetie. I know. And I would do anything in the world for you. But not this. I -- I can't.

Katie: No! So you're saying no? You're breaking your promise? You're just gonna refuse to give us our baby?

Henry: Bubbles, it's not your --

Katie: No, no, no! Don't you say that to me! Don't you say that to me!

Brad: It's all right. It's all right. It's all right. Okay? It's okay. It's all right. How could you do this? How could you do this? How could you get her hopes up like this again?

Vienna: I didn't mean to.

Brad: Yeah, you didn't mean to. You didn't mean to do a lot of things, did you?

Vienna: I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

Katie: I want to go home.

Brad: Yeah. Come on.

Vienna: Katie --

Katie: Just be honest, Vienna, for once. Why did you even come over this morning?

Vienna: I wanted to help.

Brad: How is this helping? How is any of this helping?

Vienna: Katie hates me. She -- she'll never be my friend again.

Henry: Sweetie, she had to know that what she was asking was never going to happen.

Vienna: What are we gonna do now?

Henry: We're gonna focus on being the best parents that we can be, put our family first.

[ Vienna laughs ]

Vienna: We're gonna be a family.

[ Henry laughs ]

Henry: I got something. I was gonna save it to show it to you later, but I think, uh -- I think now is as good a time as any.

Vienna: What?

Henry: I got some things for the baby.

[ Toy rattles ]

[ Henry laughs ]

Vienna: You did?

Henry: Yeah, yeah, I did. And this guy. I -- I know times are rough right now. They probably will be for -- for a long time to come. But we have -- we've got so much to look forward to, and I don't want us to lose sight of that. Hi, mommy.

[ Both laugh ]

Vienna: Well, hi, daddy.

Henry: Daddy.

[ Henry chuckles ]
