Friday, June 30, 2006 Henry tries again to help his little sister, but all Maddie wants to do is get out of town and escape her problems. Today’s episode was directed by Habib Azar and written by Melissa Salmons.
Transcripts from TVMegasite Henry: Hey, hey, kiddo. Hey, what's up? What's up? Maddie: Nothing. Nothing. Henry: You had to see me right away for nothing? Maddie: No, it's not trouble or anything, everything's fine. Henry: Okay. Maddie: It's about this summer. What are we going to do? Henry: What? Maddie: Well, this is a very big summer for me. Henry: Okay -- I don't know. I thought you would stay here and get a job -- one of us should, right? Maddie: Or -- or we can travel. We can go away. Henry: What? Maddie: Just travel. Hop in the limo and go. Henry: Maddie, have you seen gas prices lately? No. Maddie: Then we'll hitchhike around Europe. Henry: I don't do the bandanna backpack thing. Maddie: How about Monte Carlo? If we wear the right clothes, we'll pass ourselves off as Euro-trash and we'll hit the roulette tables. Haven't you always wanted to gamble in Monte Carlo? Henry: Maddie, what is this? Maddie: I want to travel. I want to see the world. Isn't that normal for my age? Henry: Yeah, but you never said a peep about it before. This is about Casey Hughes, isn't it?
Maddie: I guess I'm just -- I'm too young to have a steady boyfriend. Henry: You're too young? Did you just say that? Maddie: Yeah, you think so, too. Henry: Yeah, I think so, too. I'm your big brother! You on the other hand have been known to consider yourself a woman of the world -- Maddie: What do you think, I'm some tramp? I'm not! Henry: No, I don't think -- no, nobody's saying that. Maddie, over here. Come here. Look me in the eye. Hey! What's going on with you? Maddie: Nothing! I just broke up with someone, I don't feel like sticking around being reminded of it every ten seconds, that's all. Henry: Okay, okay. Maybe you should go home for the summer. Maddie: No! That is the worst thing I can do.
Henry: If you want to get away from Casey, maybe home isn't such a bad idea. Everybody ignores you there, right? Right? So you have more freedom than you have here. You can do anything you want. And you come back to school in the fall, and you'll have forgotten all about Casey. Maddie: I'll never forget Casey. Henry: Well, then why'd you break up with him? Maddie: I had to. Henry: Why? Maddie: Because it just -- it wasn't working. Henry: Hey, it's me, okay? The guy you can talk to, the guy you can tell anything to. Maddie: Yeah, I remember. Henry: Then why are you clamming up, kitten? If there's a problem, I can help. Maddie: You want to help? Take me to Paris this summer. Henry: Maddie, I told you, I can't -- Maddie: Then you can't help!
