Friday, August 1, 2003 In today's episode Henry gets a new roommate! Alison asks Katie if she can move in so she doesn't have to live with her mother's psycho husband. Katie says they'll have to ask her roommate. Alison insists it'll be a piece of cake. Henry barges in dancing with happiness, "Not only was I lucky in Vegas, but you are looking at the newest winner of the Oakdale lottery!" "No way, how much?" asks Katie. "Only fifty bucks, but that doesn't matter. It's the luck, you can never have too much of it. Right now I have cornered the market on it, I can do no wrong!" He spots Alison standing in the living room and says, "Hello! I'm sorry, Bubbles, you didn't tell me you had company." Katie introduces Alison, Alison Stewart. The name stops Henry's interest in the pretty young girl, "Stewart, as in Emily Stewart?" Alison says Emily is her sister. "And that would make Lieutenant Hal Munson your ..." "Brother-in-law," says Ally. Henry coldly asks Katie what she's doing here. Katie says they were hoping she could move in while she's in Australia. "Great!" says Henry jovially as he puts an arm around Katie. "I hope she can cover the rent, because if she stays here I'm gone." Katie decides to leave Henry and Alison alone to work things out. "Kathryn, Kathryn," Henry protests. Katie says she'll be right back and goes upstairs to pack for her trip. Alison begins to plead her case: she won't cramp Henry's style, she doesn't take up much space, she'll clean and look after things while Katie is gone, she makes great tacos, she's good with cars. Henry just stares at her. "OK but if you really want me to go ..." says Alison reluctantly. "There you go, and you're psychic too!" agrees Henry. Alison picks up her purse and stomps to the door. "OK, look kid, I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be offensive," says Henry apologetically. "It's just that your family has gotten me into trouble more than they've gotten me out of trouble. I wouldn't lose any sleep if I never saw you again." Alison hesitates at the door, then slams it and walks back into the room. "You know what, I'm not a member of your fan club either. But I really need a place to stay. Who knows, maybe if you're decent to me the Lieutenant will cut you a break next time you break the law," suggests Alison. "A little slack with Munson?" muses Henry. "That could be worth something. You're good with cars you said?" "I know my way around under a hood," says Alison. "I'm not gonna ... " says Henry, smirking. "Smoking! You don't smoke, do you? Because if my Cubans go missing I'll come after you!" warns Henry. Alison insists that she doesn't smoke, she doesn't do drugs, and she won't have guys parading in and out at all hours of the night. "Gee whiz, where's your halo Miss Polly Perfect?" asks Henry sarcastically. "What's a nice girl like you leaving the comforts of home for?" "I have my reasons," says Alison cryptically. Katie has returned and looks expectantly at Henry. "All right, she's hired, fine!" he says reluctantly. "Alison, if you need any help moving in ... don't ask!" Henry grumpily goes upstairs and Alison asks if that means what she think it means. "That's Henry's way of saying welcome home," says Katie. Alison hugs Katie and thanks her. Katie tells her to just wait until Henry leaves the toilet seat up and hogs the remote and eats all her groceries. Alison said she'd put up with 10 of him to avoid living with "Dr. Strange." Today’s episode was directed by Steven Williford and written by Lynn Martin.
