Wednesday, August 3, 2005 Henry and Maddie go to Katie's cottage to apologize. Maddie reluctantly does so, and Henry ends up comforting Katie about poor lost Snickers. Which leads Maddie to come up with a plan. Henry and Maddie stop outside the door of Katie's cottage. "I don't get it. I mean, I apologized to Katie and Mike 100 times yesterday," whines Maddie. "We had a deal, Maddie. See? Okay?" says Henry. "I thought the deal was since we missed my bus, you were letting me fly home today," says Maddie. "Uh-huh. And I agreed to that because you agreed to..." prompts Henry. "Grovel," says Maddie. "No, no, no, no, no -- no one's asking you to grovel," says Henry. "I don't understand why I even have to even be nice to Katie, okay? When she gave you up, for a guy with a tool belt," says Maddie. "You insulted my friends, little sister, because you butted into a situation that you don't even understand," scolds Henry. "Okay. Well, if I really, really try to understand, would you let me stay with you full time? Please? C'mon, we'd have so much fun," pleads Maddie. "Yeah, we would have fun. We would, but not now. This is not the time. I don't want you to spending all your doughnut money on hotels, okay? Let me get set up here, and you can come back any time you want," says Henry. "Well, I could work. There's a racetrack nearby, right? Nobody handicaps better than me," says Maddie. "I'm gonna shoot myself for teaching you how to do that. No, no -- we're gonna keep this nice and simple, all right? We're gonna make today you're gonna make nice. And then we're going to make tracks," says Henry. They ring the doorbell and Katie pulls open the door and cries, "Henry! Did he come looking for you?" "What?" asks Henry. "Snickers! He escaped!" says Katie. "Well, honey, it's not jail. He probably just went for a walk," says Henry soothingly. "Well, I think he freaked out when he woke up and he wasn't with you and now he's gone," says Katie. "Well, he didn't freak out. He's a buddha rabbit, sweetheart," says Henry. He suggests that maybe Snickers went out the window. "You think? You think he can jump that far?" asks Katie. "He's a rabbit," answers Henry. "All right. Well, will you look outside? I'm gonna try upstairs again," says Katie, going upstairs. "All right. You got it. I'm on it," says Henry, heading outside. Maddie smiles. Henry comes back in holding Snickers. "I found him," calls Henry. "Where was he?" asks Katie, rushing downstairs and taking him from Henry. "He was in the Hauser's yard. She put in bib lettuce this year with an electric fence around it," says Henry. "That woman has a sick sense of humor," says Katie. "Come here. Are you sure you're Snickers? Did you check? Because last time this happened, I ended up with an extra rabbit. Oh, that poor bunny," sighs Katie, remembering Faux who was killed by Pilar. "Shh. Don't even go there. It is Snickers. I checked, I am sure. What's going on with you? Are you okay?" asks Henry. "I had a rough night," answers Katie. "Should I even ask?" wonders Henry. "I don't really want to get into it. Wasn't your sister with you?" asks Katie, changing the subject. "Yeah. That is why I'm here. Maddie!" calls Henry. Maddie comes out of the kitchen with a bowl of cereal. "Hey! I just made breakfast," she says. "Oh, why don't you just help yourself?" says Henry sarcastically. "For everyone. I thought, you know, you'd be hungry after the bunny hunt. Is he caged?" asks Maddie, looking around. "Yes, by the window, so the fur shouldn't bother you," says Katie. "Thank you. That's so thoughtful of you," smiles Maddie, "Henry's just like that. You know -- I guess that's why you guys are friends. Isn't he the best?" "Madeline," warns Henry. "Okay, I'm getting there. Katie, I'm really sorry that I slammed the door on your friend," sighs Maddie. "Well, Mike is Henry's friend, too," Katie points out. "That's what I heard. Only it's not the only thing I heard. So I got protective, because Henry is the greatest big brother in the world. You know, he always had my back when it he could have just ignored me like the rest of the family did," says Maddie. "Madeline, no. Okay. No," says Henry. "But it's true," insists Maddie. "You're really lucky, Maddie," says Katie sadly, "I can't imagine having a brother like that." "Is this -- it's not Craig? I mean, I heard he got arrested," says Henry. "Yeah. Can you believe it? I couldn't believe it, again. So I went down to the station last night to see him, see if I could help. And I did. I ended up helping him start a fire," says Katie, "See that purse over there? It died of smoke inhalation. That's why I had the window open last night." "Wait, what happened here?" asks Henry. "Craig found matches inside and used them to burn down the interrogation room so he could escape," explains Katie, "That's his idea of brotherly love." "Um -- Bubbles," says Henry. "It's true. Everything they said, Henry, it's true. My big brother is a horrible person," says Katie. Henry hugs her and Maddie smiles. Henry and Katie are sitting on the couch with Maddie behind them, listening. "So Craig is in jail until the trial?" asks Henry. "If there even is a trial. Hopefully, he'll be smart enough to cop a plea and get a lesser sentence," sighs Katie. "When have you honestly known Craig to throw himself on the mercy of anything?" asks Henry. "Yeah, you're right. What was I thinking?" says Katie. "You were thinking that he would grow some sense, that he would spare his family," replies Henry. "I know. As bad as it is for me, it's worse for Margo. What if they send him so far away that I never see him again? I'm sorry. I just need a second. Excuse me," says Katie, going upstairs. "Bubbles?" questions Henry. "I'm fine," says Katie. "She's not fine," says Henry, following her upstairs. "You are still so in love with her you cannot even see straight," says Maddie. Henry comes downstairs and tells Maddie they need to go. "I don't get details?" pouts Maddie. "Your plane leaves in a few hours, so let's just spend some time together, huh?" suggests Henry. "But if I don't leave today, then we don't have to rush," says Maddie. "Madeline," says Henry impatiently. "There's no penalty to change a ticket," says Maddie, "Not the way I booked it." "Oh, really? Well, I'd love to see your browser setup some time," says Henry. "You got it," smiles Maddie. Henry tells her no and she begs, "But please, Henry, come on." "No, listen to me, don't make this harder than it already is, okay? This is not the right time. You can come back," says Henry. "Henry? Are you still here?" calls Katie, "Can you come help me with the attic door? I'm too short." "Yeah, sure. Just clean out the cereal bowl, will you?" says Henry, going back upstairs. "Get yourself ready. We're gonna go as soon as I get back." Maddie starts to follow him and notices a pink bunny slipper on the stairs. "Not good, Katie. Someone could fall and break their neck," she says. Suddenly she gets an idea. Maddie imagines tripping on the slipper, with Katie and Henry running to her aid. "Oh, Maddie, I'm so sorry. This is all my fault. How careless," says Katie. "Can you stand up, honey?" asks Henry. "Do you think her leg is broken?" wonders Katie. "No, I'm sure it's just painfully sprained. I think I can make it to the limo, though," says Maddie bravely. "No, no, absolutely not. I am quite sure that leg will have to be immobilized on my couch for at least the next 8 to 12 weeks. Don't worry about her, Henry. I'll take care good of her here," says Katie as they help her up. "Well, if you don't want Henry to worry, he can just stay here. You know, he can take care of me, and that way we won't be imposing too much," suggests Maddie. "Oh, Henry, your sister is wise beyond her years. What a perfect solution. Don't you agree?" says Katie. Henry says, "We'll care for our Maddie..." "Together!" they say in unison. Maddie comes back to the real world and smiles, "Works for me." Maddie has let Snickers out of his cage. She shoos him with oven mitts. "Go on. Giddyup. Hey, guys. Snickers escaped again. I think he knows how to get out of his cage," she calls. Henry comes downstairs and trips on the slipper. He lands flat on his back on the floor and cries, "Ow!" "Oh, my God!" says Katie, rushing over to him. Maddie is concerned that her plan took an unexpected turn. Today’s episode was directed by John O'Connell and written by Melissa Salmons.
