Today's Avanya story begins with Lucinda and Henry on the deck
of Slade's boat, desperately trying to bail out the water. "You might
as well use a teacup," despairs Henry as Lucinda continues to cheer,
"Keep bailing, keep bailing!" "Why don't you call the Coast
Guard," suggests Henry. "Call Aquaman, call
somebody!" Lucinda goes inside the boat where Simon is at the wheel
trying to steer around the storm. Joe and Rose are sitting below deck, and
Rose promises him that they'll be OK.
Up on deck, Simon and Lucinda appear to be enjoying the
excitement of the storm. Suddenly the lights go out, and Simon says they
must be taking on too much water. He asks what Henry is doing. Henry
is out on deck getting drenched by a huge wave. "Why can't anything
ever be easy for me?" he cries. As he dumps a bucket of water
overboard a hand grabs him and Donovan pulls himself on deck. He threatens
Henry with a knife and demands the diamond and provenance. Henry claims it
was washed overboard. Donovan doesn't believe him and threatens to kill
him for lying, then search his pockets. Henry hits Donovan over the head
with his bucket and rushes inside, locking the door behind him. "He's
here, he's here!" he cries excitedly. "Henry, relax. Who's
here?" asks Simon. Henry doesn't need to answer because Donovan's
face appears at the window, banging on the door.
Simon tells Paul to take the wheel while he goes outside to take
care of Donovan. "Don't die," begs Henry. "If he
kills you and then comes in here he'll slay all of us like some horror
movie!" Simon tries to reassure Henry, telling him to kill the first
Simon he sees. "What?" asks Henry. Simon tells him to
remember what he's wearing.
The two Simons face off on deck. They struggle, and both
go overboard when a wave crashes over the deck. Paul runs out onto the
deck, calling for Simon. He pulls him in, but Henry points out that they
can't be sure it's the real Simon. His shirt has come off in the water and
he's just wearing a tank top like Donovan was. Lucinda grabs him and
kisses him, then delightedly announces that it's the real Simon!
"Cheers, mate," he says. Rose points out the moon; the sky is
clearing. Henry kisses Simon on the cheek in happiness, and Rose runs to
get Joe, telling them that now they're going to survive.
Henry is getting sick at the railing, and Simon pats him on the
back saying, "About done, Henry?" "I'm really good in a
pinch. It's afterwards that I toss my cookies, I'm polite that way,"
responds Henry. "Grab a bucket, sunshine," orders Simon.
They need to bail out the boat and dry off the generator so they can get the
power back. "Hallelujah," cries Henry.
Lucinda tells Simon that he did a good job, and not to worry
about Katie. "God protects lunatics and drunkards." Henry
approaches and puts his arm around them, saying, "Comrades in arms, who
would've thought that we would've made it through this whole thing without
killing each other." Lucinda tells Henry that he should count himself
lucky. Henry says he does, and that "I'm a modest man, but I do think
I deserve some kind of compensation for all of this. I'm not talking a lot
of zeros." Lucinda laughs and tells him he can start tomorrow.
"You've got your zeros. But I'm going to wring the blood, sweat, and
tears from you to make it worth my while." Henry looks as if he's not
sure he knows what he's gotten himself into.

[ Shouting ]
>> Henry: One for you. One for you.
[ Lucinda laughs ]
>> Rose: Hey, look. I told ya, pop! Told you we were people that could
survive this.
[ Off the Coast of Avanya ]
>> Simon: You about done there, Henry?
>> Henry: I'm really good in a pinch. It's just afterwards, I toss my
cookies. I'm polite that way.
>> Simon: Yeah? Well, grab a bucket, sunshine. Let's get some of this
water out of here. We'll clear the generator out, dry it off, and then we'll
have power again.
>> Henry: Hallelujah.
>> Rose: How ya doing, pop? Huh?
>> Joe: Take a look at all those little lights. For a couple of moments
there, I didn't know if I'd ever see a sight like that again.
>> Rose: And now you've got the rest of your life to look at all those
beautiful stars.
>> Joe: It's all that clear space. You know what it makes me think about?
>> Rose: What's that?
>> Joe: Napoli.
>> Rose: Oh! Yeah, when you were a little boy?
>> Joe: Out there in the countryside, you took a good look up, and there
was this curtain -- curtain of stars hanging all the way down to the ground.
Sometimes, when I'm sitting on my stoop in jersey and looking up at the sky, I
know that my people in Naples are looking at the same things I'm looking at. I
miss 'em, Rose.
>> Rose: You'll see 'em again, pop. You will.
>> Paul: Joe, I didn't know you were a stargazer.
>> Joe: Huh?
>> Paul: Isn't that -- yeah, yeah, that's it. Cephus, king of Ethiopia.
>> Rose: Am I -- am I missing something here?
>> You're smooth.
>> Rose: What? I get a little hint? What's going on?
>> Paul: The king's daughter was the most beautiful woman in the world,
and Perseus, the hero, saved the King's life, and as a reward, he gave Perseus
his daughter.
>> Joe: I'm not a king, but I got a good-looking daughter. And you're a
hero in my book, Paul. I'm gonna give her to you on the wedding day.
>> Rose: Hey. You know, I -- I really can't concentrate on much of
anything, I mean, especially a wedding, until you're playing bocce ball again
every Saturday.
[ Joe coughs ]
>> Joe: I'm not letting you spend any more time on me, especially not in
New Jersey.
>> Paul: All right. Then how about Napoli? I mean, I'm gonna have Rose for
the rest of my life. I'll let her have some time off to get you back on your
feet.
>> Rose: You know what? Stop it, stop it. Stop talking. Just relax. You've
been talking too much. You just calm down until we get you to the hospital.
>> Paul: Joe, I wouldn't argue with her if I were you.
>> Rose: Come on.
[ Lucinda sighs ]
>> Lucinda: Well done again. Well done, well done.
>> Simon: Well I won't be happy till we're off this bloody boat.
>> Lucinda: Now, don't you worry about Katie. Katie is just fine. God
protects lunatics and drunkards.
>> Henry: Comrades in arms. Hey, who would have thought we would have made
it through this whole thing without killing one another?
>> Lucinda: Count yourself lucky.
>> Simon: Yeah, let's not start now.
>> Henry: Hey, I am gonna count my luck. You know, Lucinda
>> Lucinda: Yes?
>> Henry: I'm a modest man, but I do think that I -- I do think that I
deserve some kind of compensation for all of this. I'm not talking about a lot
of zeroes here, but --
>> Lucinda: Okay. You can start tomorrow.
>> Henry: "Start"?
>> Lucinda: Yeah. Yeah, your new job. You'd get the zeroes. You've got the
zeroes, only I'm going to wring the blood, sweat and tears out of you to make it
worth my while.
>> Rose: How did you know that I wanted to take my pop to Napoli?
>> Paul: I know you. I look in those eyes, and I see everything.
>> Rose: And I love you for that. But I know we were supposed to get
married and everything, and I just don't know if I can think about that right
now.
>> Paul: I know. Just let your father get back on his feet, and then we'll
take everything from there, okay?
>> Rose: I don't deserve you.
>> Paul: [ looking at the diamond ] I never really saw that up-close. It's
beautiful.
>> Rose: Oh, yeah. It's beautiful, all right. It's covered in blood. It's
caused more misery than I can even think about.
>> Paul: Well, it's still your birthright.
>> Rose: Yeah, you know, but you know, even a multimillion-dollar rock is
not worth it. It's got nothing to do with my family. I've got a great arm. You
ever see it?
>> Paul: No.
>> Rose: Oh, yeah. That.
>> Paul: What?
