Friday, October 1, 2004 Poor broken-hearted Henry is at Metro with Mike. "She squashed my heart like a grape in a vat. There's nothing left, but skin and peel," he says forlornly. "Sounds like some wine got made, at least," jokes Mike. "That's not funny. Okay, fine. You scoff. You're the expert at love. This is all new to me," says Henry. "Getting shot down?" asks Mike. "This isn't some brush-off, Mike. This isn't some slap in the face or even demanding cab fare home. Nikki ended it," says Henry. "Ended what?" asks Mike. "Us. We. Our fine romance. She just tossed it aside," says Henry. Mike points out that they were never "dating." "Exactly. She crushed us before we even began. She -- we never had any time alone together. It was all just strip poker and concussions. Oh, she's coming this way," says Henry as he sees Nikki approaching. "You're okay," Mike reassures him. "Probably to rub salt in the open wounds," mourns Henry as he takes a big drink of his martini. Mike tells him to keep his chin up and Nikki arrives and says hi. "Nicole -- good to see you again. Oh, look at the time. The Pacific Rim markets are still open. I have to make some phone calls. You two enjoy the evening," says Henry as he leaves the bar. Nikki tells Mike she's afraid she hurt his feelings. Mike assures her he always bounces back. "Oh, I feel so rotten. I think I gave him the wrong impression," says Nikki. "Henry was born with the wrong impression. It wasn't your fault. Come on, from what he told me, it sounds like you did the best anyone could in this situation," says Mike. Nikki says she still wants to be friends with him. "He's fun, when he's not annoying. Actually, he is a great guy. But, you know, hey, if he's not the one for you..." says Mike. "No. He's definitely not the one," says Nikki pointedly. She convinces him to go to dinner with her to discuss renovation plans for her kitchen, even though he insists he's not ready for a relationship. After Nikki has left Henry returns to Metro. "There he is. The man," says Mike. "You think Nikki bought it? She didn't realize how devastated I am?" asks Henry. "Not from anything you did or said," says Mike. "Mike, this whole brave front thing is exhausting," says Henry. Mike assures him he'll feel better tomorrow. "Yeah. You're right. I will. By tomorrow, she'll realize what she's done. I suspect she'll have troubled dreams tonight, wake up with a vague sense of unease, and, as if something's missing. And by tomorrow night, she'll realize it's me," says Henry hopefully. "And if not, there lots of other fish in the sea," adds Mike. "This is from a man who never goes trawling. You know, Mike, you should take your own advice, get back in the game," says Henry. "I'm not. All right, look, there's something you should know right now, up front, before you get the wrong idea," says Mike. "I'm having dinner with Nikki tomorrow night." Shocked, Henry stands up, looks at Mike angrily, and says, "Et tu, Kasnoff?" Today’s episode was directed by Sonia Blangiardo and written by Lynn Martin.
