Wednesday, October 6, 2004 Nikki and Mike have a date, and Mike breaks it so as not to lead her on. Fortunately for Henry, he's right there to fill in for Mike. Nikki and Jennifer are having lunch at the Lakeview. She's all excited about her "date" with Mike, but Carly convinces him to cancel it so she won't get the wrong idea. Nikki is disappointed but not ready to give up, despite Jen's advice to let him go. Jen leaves and Nikki stays to have another cup of coffee and admire the new earrings she was going to wear on her date. "We would have had a good time," she says to them. Henry appears and says, "Nice jewels. Special occasion?" "This is for a date that's not happening," she answers. Henry guesses it was with Mike and Nikki explains that he's busy. "And you're free. How providential," says Henry, sitting down at her table. "Henry..." begins Nikki. "I know. I know. I'm potentially subjecting myself to further humiliation, since you've already cast me aside," says Henry. Nikki assures him that she likes him. "Good. I like like. That's great. Like is fine. You like me, I like you. Let's eat," says Henry. "I'll be your replacement date," he smiles. "Henry, I've already told you. We're not dating," says Nikki. "Okay, fine. Call it whatever you want. I'm just talking about fine dining, martinis, the moon, the stars, you and me and a night of delicious possibilities. Hey, come on, you've got to eat," says Henry. "Henry, why do you keep asking me out? I have already told you I don't see you and me together. I have not given you any encouragement," says Nikki. "Well, Mike hasn't given you any encouragement. Are you giving up?" retorts Henry. Nikki grabs her purse and stands up to leave. "I'm sorry. That was rude. I didn't mean to insult you. Sorry," says Henry, stopping her. "Just give me a chance. Think of it as a karma thing. You know, if you change your mind about me, listen, and maybe Mike will change his mind about you. Besides, I have one distinct advantage over him," he says. "What's that?" asks Nikki. "I'm here," says Henry. Today’s episode was directed by Jennifer Pepperman and written by Susan Dansby.
