Wednesday, October 23, 2002 After an unpleasant conversation with Craig, Rosanna makes a call on her cell phone and tells the person on the other end of the line to meet her at the Lakeview lounge. She has a business proposition to discuss. Who could she be talking to? That's right, it's our favorite private investigator Henry. Rosanna is sitting at a table in the lounge looking at her watch when Henry walks up and sits down at her table. "Henry! Right on time," she says. Henry nervously tells her he wants to make this short and sweet. "I'm insulted, I thought you enjoyed my company," says Rosanna. Henry tells her it's nothing personal, he has other issues. "Such as?" she asks. "Such as," answers Henry, "Partners who are less than happy about our last transaction." Rosanna asks if they object to making a profit, and Henry answers, "They object to Early Bird Surveillance being in bed with Craig Montgomery's girlfriend. No offense." "None taken," answers Rosanna, although she does point out that that's a sexist attitude. Henry assures her it's not his attitude. Rosanna hands Henry a check and asks if that might change their minds. Maybe Katie and Simon wouldn't object to that number. Henry takes the check, reads the number, and says, "Katie who?" He asks her what she has in mind. Rosanna explains that she has a slight business problem. She needs to get out of a contract. She has an out clause, she just needs to make sure it's honored. "Honor thy out clause, I always say," says Henry. "How can I help?" Rosanna asks him to keep a close eye on Craig and his "so-called business partner Carly Tenney." "You want me to spy on your sister?" asks Henry. Rosanna explains that he would simply be gathering some much-needed information, and she'd do the rest. "Do we have a deal?" Henry asks what he would be looking for. "Proof," answers Rosanna. "Proof of what?" asks Henry. "Proof that Craig and Carly are working overtime," says Rosanna. "You want me to catch them in flagrante delicto," clarifies Henry. Rosanna compliments him that that's a gentlemanly way to put it. "There's nothing gentlemanly about looking through a woman's curtains with a zoom lens waiting for her nightie to drop," says Henry. Rosanna agrees and apologizes for being unreasonable. She grabs the check from Henry and rips it up. Henry tells her to hold on, they might be able to work it out. Rosanna writes out a new check and asks, "Will this work it out for you?" Henry takes the check, is impressed by the number, and says, "Did I ever tell you how big my zoom is?" "I was hoping you had all the necessary equipment," says Rosanna. "You can bet your out clause on it," says Henry. "Sit tight, Ms. Cabot. As soon as I have any incriminating evidence on your sister, I'll give you a call." He puts the check in his pocket and leaves. Today’s episode was directed by Maria Wagner and written by Judith Donato.
