Thursday, October 24, 2002 At Java Underground, Bonnie and Isaac and Ben and Jessica revel in their happiness. They are the perfect couples. Then Henry walks in. "Good Evening, all. Isaac, I'll have the usual, my good man." "Coleman, behave," warns Isaac. "What do you mean, behave?" asks Henry. "I'm just gonna keep it down to two tonight, or maybe two dozen, I haven't decided. I'm just kidding with you, man. C'mon, relax!" Isaac leaves and Bonnie says, "My, my, Henry, aren't we looking flush." Henry agrees that business is good. Bonnie thanks Henry for tipping her off about Marshall. "Have you spoken to the future long arm of the law lately?" asks Henry. Bonnie says she hasn't because things are cool between them now. "Cool or not, our world will never be safe as long as Paul is running around like a loose cannon. Marshall does not take kindly to shots across the bow," warns Henry. Henry explains that while for them this whole thing was just an adventure in surveillance, for Paul it's personal. "He's out for blood where Marshall is concerned. That means we're not off the hook in case Marshall gets that hundred dollar tie into a bind," says Henry as he tries to leave. Bonne tells him to keep his voice down and stops him from leaving. Jessica is observing the conversation while dancing with Ben, and tells him she's not happy with the company her daughter is keeping. Bonnie tells Henry that Paul can do whatever he wants. She's squared things with Marshall so he won't come after her, the club, or her family. It's over for her, and if Paul wants to go gunning after Marshall, that's his problem. Henry asks Bonnie what Paul's ammunition could be, and Bonnie says she doesn't know since there's nothing on the tape. Henry asks her who said there's nothing on the tape, and Bonnie replies that it was Paul. "C'mon, Bonnie. If the tape is all the dirt Paul has on Marshall, then it's clear to me that he's been lying to us about what's on it," says Henry. Henry points out that the only people who really know what's on the tape are Paul and Marshall. "So?" asks Bonnie, still in denial. "So, Bonnie, if Marshall knows he's not caught on the tape doing something wrong, why would he care about the tape at all? Why would Paul have to watch his back? Why would Paul even be dealing with Marshall unless he knew he had something Marshall desperately wanted?" Bonnie tells Henry he sounds so right it's scary! "I don't want to be right, I just want the whole thing to go away," says Henry. "I'm not like tough guy Paul, I'm scared of Marshall. I don't know what he was doing in that room, I don't know if it was butterscotch pudding and some hot oils and call girls and harnesses... OK, OK, maybe it was benign. But he doesn't want anyone to know about it." Bonnie comments that if that is true, it's no wonder he wants the tape. Henry agrees, and quickly changes the subject. He needs help on another case he's working on. "How frequently do Craig Montgomery and Carly Tenny frequent this establishment?" he asks. "What?" asks Bonnie, still thinking about Marshall and Paul. "Craig and Carly," repeats Henry. "They have a little tête-à-tête here every so often?" Bonnie tells Henry she'll talk to him later and runs out of the club to confront Paul and Marshall. She finds them at the Lakeview lounge, but Paul will only tell her that there's something on the tape, and he can't tell her what it is. Henry is enjoying his martini at the bar when Jessica and Ben approach. "Mr. Coleman," begins Jessica. "Yes, hi. Whatever it is, I didn't do it!" jokes Henry. Jessica asks him what he said to Bonnie to make her run out of there. "Did I say something?" wonders Henry innocently. "We're not in the mood for games here, man," says Ben. "OK, all right. Have we met?" asks Henry, stalling. "Ben Harris, I'm the owner's brother and the D.A. asked you a question," says Ben. "Right. Henry Coleman, hi," says Henry. He explains that he told Bonnie that Paul had some urgent business with Marshall Travers. Jessica is suddenly silent, but Ben asks him what kind of business, and why would Bonnie care? "That I can't tell you," says Henry. "Can't or won't?" asks Ben. "It's just not in my best interests," explains Henry. "You know how people are in this town. You never know who is sleeping with whom." With that very appropriate comment, Henry makes some excuse about leaving his iron on, and manages to escape, leaving Jessica to smooth things over with Ben. Later, Bonnie comes back and tells her mother she thinks Paul has been lying to them about the tape. Today’s episode was directed by Michael Eilbaum and written by Royal Miller.
