Craig's Halloween masquerade bash has begun, and our Henry is there dressed
in 1920's knickers, complete with hat, bow tie, and plenty of plaid!
Jake goes to answer the door at Molly's apartment, and when he opens it he is
greeted with an evil sounding laugh. Henry appears, laughing and in costume,
saying, "Hey, sorry, I couldn't resist, huh?!" Jake tells him that
he's late, he was supposed to report on Emily before the party. Henry agrees,
saying he's just in the nick of time. He tries to take some candy off the table
but
Jake
slaps it out of his hands and asks him what he found out. Henry reports that
Emily was planning to skip the party because of her feelings for Craig. She
resents him for buying the Intruder and hiring Henry as her boss. "I don't
understand why." But she changed her mind as
soon as she heard Jake was going to be there. Molly walks in the room and
doesn't seem impressed by this news, she's known about Emily's crush on Jake for
a long time. "Then this little tidbit should please the observant Miss
Conlan." Henry goes on to explain that before he left the office he peeked
in on Emily and saw her ransacking her office, obviously looking for something
very important. Jake is not very impressed by this news either, and escorts
Henry to the door, saying "good-bye now." As he leaves Henry
laughingly says, "Don't let that mean old Emily spoil the evening for you,
OK?"
The next time we see Henry, he is walking up to Lily and Holden at Craig's
party. He comes up
behind Holden and says, "Well, fancy meeting you here!" Holden
does not look happy to see him and says, "Henry, are you back for a
visit? I never thought I'd see your face in this town again." "Why,
because you fired me? I wouldn't let a little thing like that impede my
progress. The boss invited me to this shindig, Craig Montgomery. I'm the new
managing editor of the Intruder." Holden is not impressed. "The
Intruder? I always wondered how low you'd really go, Henry, guess I got my
answer." Henry turns to Lily, who has not said a word, and tells her,
"You're awfully quiet tonight, Lily. It is Lily, isn't it?" This makes
Holden angry, just as Henry intended, and he says, "You don't work for me
anymore, Coleman." "Oh, lucky me." "So there's nothing
stopping me from punching your face in!" But Lily does stop him, and Henry
backs away saying, "Gotta go, suit's a rental!"
Later,
still at the party, Lily and Holden are dancing and trying to forget the events
of the last few months. Lily spies Henry dancing with an unknown woman. He is
talking and laughing with her, all the while glancing over at Lily. Lily thinks
they're talking about the situation with her and Holden and Rose, so she leaves
the dance floor and the party.
