Monday, November 19, 2007 As they prepare for the next day's Thanksgiving Dinner for the less fortunate, Henry and Vienna counsel Katie about her latest drama. They encourage her to forget about Brad and go back to Jack. Carly shows up at the diner to try to make amends with Katie, and Henry warns Brad to be good to Katie. Today’s episode was directed by Jennifer Pepperman and written by Richard Culliton.
Transcripts from TVMegasite Vienna: So when you found out she was lying, you called off the wedding. Henry: We tend to avoid the topic of called-off weddings. Vienna: Well, Jack at least had a good reason to call off the wedding. I knew that woman was lying all the time. Katie: She wasn't lying all the time. That's what makes it so complicated. Vienna: No, it's not complicated at all. Now Jack knows that she's a connive witch and you are his soul mate. Katie: No. All of this happening just proves that I never had his heart to begin with, not all of it. Vienna: So, now's the time to make a move in. She threw his love away, you move in and recycle. Katie: No, that's not going to happen. After last night -- Henry: What do you mean, after last night? Katie: After last night, it's over for Jack and me.
Henry: And exactly why is it over for you and Jack? Katie: Because that's what I told him. My mom used to put some sourdough bread in her stuffing. I hated it. Vienna: Oh, no, no, we're not changing the subject. You are going to tell me why you did such a stupid, stupid thing. Katie: It was not stupid! It's like I told Brad last night -- Henry: Whoa, whoa, wait a second. You call it off with Jack and then you go to Brad? Katie: He came to me. Henry: And you let him in? Vienna: Katie. It's time for an intervention.
Katie: I don't think either one of you has room to act all superior. Henry: We are not acting superior. We're scared for you, all right? Now, I haven't asked this since junior high school, but how far did you two get? Katie: I did not sleep with him. He was being a friend, just like you two. Vienna: No, not like we are. Henry: He's just trying to get lucky. Katie: That's a terrible thing to say about him. Vienna: But true, Katie, very true. Henry: Do I have to remind you of the things he's done to you? And the reason why? Katie: He's changed. Henry: No, he hasn’t. Brad is a very simple organism. He has two and only two motivations. And Emma’s already giving him food. Katie: I do not want to talk about this anymore. See you have no faith in me at all. Henry: I don't have any faith in Brad. And we don't want to see you get hurt again. Katie: I know that. Vienna: I'm getting you some pepparkakor. Katie: Henry? Henry: Yeah? Katie: Remember when I was always lying and scheming -- Henry: Shallow and mercenary? Yes, I do remember. Katie: You know what? Life was a lot easier when I was the bitch.
Katie: I know, I thought Brad was selfish, undersexed, undereducated, narcissistic, totally irritating and not funny. Henry: Not anymore? Katie: Remember when he brought Snickers here? Vienna: He brought your rabbit to you and suddenly he's Dag Hammarskjold, Lars Gevinken and St. Olaf, all rolled up into one? Henry: Katie, Katie, it's just, after everything you've been through -- Vienna: Don't be an idiot. Katie: Guys, Guys, I'm in total control. Total. I need some milk.
Katie: I have a great idea, Brad and I should cover the dinner for the show. Then you get good promo for the cause and for the diner. Henry: And it would be a great excuse for you to call Brad. Katie: It's a good thing I like you because I really kind of hate you. Happy now? Henry: I'm happier. Katie: Where should I put this? Henry: Too easy. I'll put it in the window. Ask Vienna if she needs my help with anything else. Katie: Okay. Gwen: Do you mind if I talk to Henry for a second? I want to check if Maddie’s coming back. Carly: I'll wait here. Gwen: I'll be a minute.
Vienna: Katie, what's wrong? Gwen: My sister, she's outside. Katie: She's not coming in here. Vienna: We reserve the right to refuse service to horrible people. Carly: I want to talk to Katie. Vienna: It doesn't matter what you want, you can't come in. Carly: I'd like to talk to Katie. Henry: No, no, you can't talk to Katie here. There's knives, there's scalding coffee. Katie: It's okay. Hey, let heifer come in. Carly: Thank you.
Katie: Guys, give me a minute. So, want to talk to me? Carly: Yeah. I suppose my words won't matter a whole heck of a lot, but I -- I have this money, this compensation for the misdiagnosis, and I want you and Jack to have it. Katie: What? Oh, right, okay, so then we're square. Carly: No. No, I just thought that you and Jack could do something nice with it, take a trip. Katie: Right. Why don't you keep the money, Carly, after all, you did earn it. Carly: I don't expect you to ever understand. I had my family back -- Katie: Oh, I understand, Carly. From the moment you came back to Oakdale, way after the diagnosis, you couldn't stand the fact that Jack was happy with me and you were going to do anything, anything in your power to get me back for that.
Carly: Yeah, Katie, it was all about you. When they told me I was going to die, my first thought was - how can I use this against Katie? Katie: When I said give me a minute, I meant it because that's all it should take. I want to thank you. Carly: For what? Katie: For taking Jack back. Now I see it was going to happen sooner or later and sooner's better. Carly: So you're saying we belong together then? Katie: I think you're the worst thing that ever happened to him. Because you'll never leave him alone, which means there's a good chance he'll never be happy. I can only imagine how frightening it is to be the object of your affection.
Vienna: She offered you money? Katie: Yeah. She had a check. Vienna: I'd like to rip her and that check into a thousand pieces. Katie: I don't want to talk about her any more. I'm over it. Henry: You're over it? Right. That's why you called Brad? Gwen: I'm sorry about that. We really didn't know that Katie was here. Vienna: It's not your fault. Maybe it was even good for Katie. Actually, you know, I think you and I should stay away from this subject. Gwen: That would be good. I actually came by to see if Maddie would be back for Thanksgiving. Henry: No, I think it's a little too early for her to come back. Gwen: I understand that. I was just hoping to talk to her in person. Henry: Something wrong? Gwen: No, it's good news. Will and I are going to adopt a baby. Henry: That's wonderful news. Why don't you look happy about it? Gwen: I'm trying to be.
Brad: You must know this, I love Katie like a sister. Henry: And you know how I feel about her, Brad, so if you do anything, anything to hurt her, you will have us to deal with, okay? Brad: Guys, Guys. I won't ever do anything to hurt Katie, I swear. Henry: I saw what your lies did to Jack, your kids, and to Katie. Vienna: But you went along with it.
