Martinis with Henry - "Master of
Disguise"
The fourth annual "Martinis with Henry" event took place at Latitude from about 4:30 to about 7:00 pm. Although we were in the same bar as the past two years, we've outgrown the space at the back of the bar and had a private room on the second floor. The windows at the front were open to let in the fresh spring air and the sounds from busy 8th Avenue below. We had plenty of delicious passed hors d'oeuvres. I think everyone will agree the location was a step up from last year!
The theme for this year's event was "Master of Disguise" in honor of Henry's many disguises. Margaret (aka Princess Sparky) created this beautiful graphic that we used for magnets and posters. We also had Groucho glasses for everyone and a few clown wigs and noses.
All fans received an autographed gift bag containing a "Martinis with Henry" shot glass and pen, Grouch glasses, and a magnet.
About 50 fans attended the event along with four actors - Trent, Ewa da Cruz (the almost-Mrs. Coleman, Vienna Hyatt), Austin Peck (Henry's rival for Vienna's affections, Brad Snyder), and Brian Gaskill (Henry's former rival/boss, B.J. Greene). Thanks to all of them for extending their already long day to chat with the fans in a more informal setting! The trivia contest this year featured several questions about Henry's disguises. Apparently it was challenging; the high score was 9 out of 20! We gave away the above posters as well as one of Henry's ties for prizes.
We also had a drawing for door prizes - Henry and Katie's matching doggie pajamas and Henry's Ethel dress.
We also had gifts for Trent - a framed poster signed by all the fans, an authentic Yankees jersey (we had trouble with the order so we presented him with a "replica" and Yankee martini glasses), and a Twins hat (which I had to do to counteract the affect of giving money to the Yankees ;).
Barbara graced us with the same song that she sang last year, written by her mom, Joan. Here are the lyrics (to the tune of Around the World in 80 Days):
From far and near we've come to say That you as Henry Coleman never fail to make our day. At home we sit and vegetate; Or at our work, we sometimes shirk, and then we cogitate.
But watching you in full array We get a boost and some relief from common everyday. So, Trent, to you we want to raise our toast-- For you're the actor we enjoy the most! That was the extent of the "structured" part of the event, after that it was just mingling with the actors and other fans. As they say, a good time was had by all! Here are some pictures of the actors at the event:
And now, some pictures of the actors with their fans.
